PFT: Dak; QBs are judged by winning that last game

They will let Dak play until he can't play no more. That's the Way Jerry rolls. That's why the Cowboys are always behind the other teams.
well shotty has 2 years I guess to talk some sense into the jones boys.
It is just too much $ for what they get.
Better to have a good bus driver QB. again if they spend the $ getting some more good players.

2 - 5 in the playoffs. 31 years and counting. Dak Prescott lmao

Cowboys wont sniff another championship with Jerry and Stephen running the show.
Well, I’ve been with them since the 60s, am I happy cowboy?

I guarantee you that every team that wins a Superbowl, NBA championship, World Series, World Cup, etc has selfish players on that team somewhere. I doubt if its too detrimental.
Depends if that's reflected in salary especially by the big hitters. Brady took a lot less than what he would have been offered on the open market and won 7 Superbowls in total. His personal situation was irrelevant, the facts are he accepted those contracts during his career. I don't really follow basketball but I understand Jalen Brunson did not insist on a massive contract to enable the team to pay other star players and the Knicks just won the NBA Championship. Sam Darnold is paid half of what Dak Prescott is remunerated annually yet produced very similar performances over the past two years when given a competitive team. I'm not claiming Darnold is a better quarterback but he is far better value in terms of return on investment.

When people claim that say a 10 million saving wouldn't make much difference I completely disagree. During the season teams with Superbowl aspirations will often grab a few players that could be the difference of making key plays to reaching a Superbowl and possibly winning it. E.g., I remember the Rams picked up Odell Beckham Junior in November 2021 when they won the Superbowl, I remember the Chiefs made some handy pick ups in previous years when reaching Superbowls.

People that claim well Prescott's contract is just the market rate - is it? He's still the 2nd highest paid quarterback and he was the highest paid quarterback over the past 2 years. He will probably be given a new contract next season or the season after which will likely keep him in the top 5 paid quarterbacks in the league.

The other classic is oh well the front office would just waste the money any way. That's a completely separate point and to their credit they have made some excellent free agency signings in recent years like Pickens and Javonte Williams. They may have done the same this off season with Jalen Thompson and Cobie Durant.

Prescott is overpaid for his production and it does impact the strength of the roster. I think the Cowboys have done an excellent job in strengthening the roster in spite of overpaying for Dak but they had to let Parsons go as a result. It could be an even strong roster if Dak wasn't overpaid but here we are.

If there was no salary cap then I would not care if Prescott made a billion a year. But there is a salary cap so as the quarterback his contract is very relevant to the construction of the roster.

They did not let Micah Parsons go because of Prescott’s salary

Apparently there are actually people here who believe Dak and Stafford are comparable QBs. Or even think Dak is better.
You guys get too caught up in who’s better or who’s worse, at the end of the day when Sam Darnold held up a Lombardi nobody cared if he was top 10 or top 15. To be honest the only fans who care about that are fans of teams on that can’t win a SB. Ravens fans, Bills fans, Cowboys fans etc.

Fans fighting over who’s better when it’s Mahomes and then a bunch of guys from 2 to 10 that are interchangeable.

so having Calvin Johnson doesn't count?

2009, they went 2-14 with the worst defense in the league? how did he lift that team?
they jumped to 19th in 2010, still went 6-10!!!
got destroyed in the playoffs against Saints in 2011
2012 going 4-12

and its not like he didn't have probowlers on his team.

but he got to LA. a team that was in the superbowl with Goff, almost won it against the GOAT.
one of the birghtest coaching minds in offensive football.
loaded the team on offense and defense and won a superbowl.
in fact Rams made ton of trades, mortgaged the future to load the team to win.

so not saying, Stafford is not a good QB. he is. but seems like he needed a lot around him to succeed and when he did have that, he did suceed. just needed to be surronded with a perfect team per se.
Have you actually watched Stafford play? Did you watch the game winning drive in the SB? They had Kupp covered with a blanket and he still found the tightest of windows to get him the ball. Dak's arm isn't even in the same league as Stafford's. There really isn't much comparison talent wise.

I think you are mistaken about the 2-10 guys being interchangeable. There is a massive difference between #2 and #10.

Its a figure of speech. For people who want to stat you to death bc they only have statistical metrics to go off of and not championships.
I like when people quote a single stat the most. Like rushing yards in a single game like it tells the whole story.

Dak is capable of making those same throws, but not nearly as consistently. Remember Stafford’s first year with the lambs? I think he threw like 25 interceptions. He’s better than Dak but not as great as some of you want to make him out to be. And don’t get me wrong, I like Matt and he is great.

but that's not reality of NFL....what fans percieve as value, is not how the market works. forexample, for several years, Mahomes was 10th in salary and by far he is the best in the NFL.

even Geno Smith got a 37M contract.... Deshaun Watson and all his troubles got 46M average from browns..and he was injured 2 prior years and was on the bench healing supposedly.

now, did Jerry overpay at 60M on his second contract? yes. fans argued he should be at 50 or 55....because he handicapped the salary...reality is that Philly handed out tons of money and large contracts and signed a bunch of their own and FAs. and won a superbowl, pushing money into the future, knowing at some point they are going to be in true cap hell with dead money.

now, if jerry was a normal owner and wasn't just looking for clicks and marketing, he would have, could have resigned Dak for 50-55...instead he cornered himself. no other QB on the roster. didn't go after any other FAs, waited literally until an hour before first game of the season to get contract signed...seriously....

and so 5-10M wasn't the reason we couldn't sign FAs, its Jerry and Stephen being who they are.

we were one of the lowest teams in cash spent, dead money and more towards bottom of the salary cap floor compared to rest of the league (until Dak and CD signing, which skewed us to the middle).

so market value is not player ranking, nor how fans value a player.
I was asked a question and answered it. That is about Dak's actual cash value. And like I've said before I would have traded him before I signed him for $40M the first time. I said it when his demands first leaked. I was right then and nothing's changed to prove me wrong.

one was a 1st overall pick for a reason.

my point, there is no QB that can cover all the flaws and carry a team by himself...

the question is what do they do once given those resources.
Dak has had really good teams. It's been 10 years not one or two. His teams were better before his last contract.

Sure.
Dak: 0 SB wins, 0 appearances, 2-5 PO record
Allen: 0 SB wins, 0 appearances, 8-7 PO record
Jackson: 0 SB wins, 0 appearances, 3-5 PO record
Burrow: 0 SB wins, 1 SB appearance, 5-2 PO record
Mahomes: 3 SB wins, 5 SB appearances, 17-4 PO record

Aside from Mahomes, in terms of contracts, these should all be around the same ballpark. We shouldn’t be surprised Dak got what he got.
The only one who's playoff record, which is all you quoted, is Jackson. IMO he's as overrated as Dak. Although his last loss in the playoffs vs Buffalo he did enough to win. The cold beat them. I'll bet Andrew's hands were frozen.

Kansas City is no longer the team they were, Jalen hurts through a costly interception almost lost the game, if it wasn’t for Sharyne Barkley throughout the season eagles were done
Who is Sharyne? Please tell me that was a typo? And I said without Barkley they don't sniff the SB but then you come off like you are disagreeing with me?

Romo did not choke in the playoffs. He did his job. He got over run by a bad offensive line one year vs Minnesota he had TDs dropped by Crayton and Fasano vs the Giants and played a flawless game vs the Packers that got taken from him. 5 TDs 2 INTs and a 95 QBR- Just be fair.
He needed 6. Not the defense's fault though. ;)

I think you are mistaken about the 2-10 guys being interchangeable. There is a massive difference between #2 and #10.
I don’t think so. They all have different skill sets for sure but I honestly don’t think there’s a difference in Lamar and Dak. I don’t think Herbert is inferior to Stafford. Goff and Dak are the same caliber. Josh Allen I can hear the argument but to me he’s closer to Lamar than he is Mahomes. Might be a hot take. I feel it’s Mahomes and then about 8 other guys.

It is funny people determines someone selfishness when these players put their lives and bodies on the line lol. One hit to the head could end them. But guys will sit on their fat arse every week and will barely lift a finger to turn the channel lol.
Put their lives on the line? A bit dramatic.
