This might result in individual game purchases. In other words, true pay-per-view on a single game basis. I would love that. However, the Cowboys are on national TV more than anybody, so their sales wouldn't be as high as other teams, but who cares?

Let's have a show of hands For those who have DIRECTV and the NFL Sunday Ticket: If DIRECTV dropped the NFL Sunday Ticket would you drop DIRECTV or keep it, and why?

My answer: I would drop DIRECTV because I'm already paying for another cable TV service that bundles in my Internet service at a lower bundled cost. I would save money if my current cable provider also offered the NFL Sunday Ticket.

I would not. My other option is Xfinity/Comcast which is terrible in my opinion.

In ways this could be good because it would open it up to cable and other satellite companies instead of direct TV having the sole rights.

Well I think that it will also force Direct Tv to lower their regular packages prices or find ways to keep their current customers. I know current customers would not accept paying close to $100.00 a month during the football season when they can go subscribe to another provider that offer cheaper rates.

Without Sunday Ticket, I'd probably drop DirecTV pretty quick. I've already thought about it.

I'd like something that didn't go out every time a storm hit, and the Sunday Ticket is the only thing that has kept me around.

No they did show the Seattle game. It wasn't their fault it was one of the worst games the Cowboys have ever played. But, I paid 200 dollars to see it. The only choice you have with Directv is all of the games or none. So, from now on, I choose none. Paying $200.00 to see that one game is simply one of those things I have to ensure never happens again. The score was 27-7, but it wasn't nearly as close as the 20 point differential would make it appear.

You can order it by the week if you want. It was $45 I think during the 2011 season.

I'd keep it. I've not had issues. Their customer service has been great to me. I have no complaints. At all. Cable is just as expensive for half the channels.

My only complaints about TV are related to programming out of their control, like Fox changing FUEL TV from an action sports to almost all UFC and moto racing. I miss the skating, surfing and snowboarding.

I have cablevision as my internet/TV/phone provider. I only use directTV for the Sunday Ticket. Of course I'm lucky that I'm grandfathered in since I've had the Sunday Ticket since 1996, so I don't have to pay for the monthly service, just the Ticket itself. Of course I don't have high def sat equipment, so when I watch games on the ticket I lose that.

The NFL is dedicated to its own network. It wouldn't surprise me if they refused to re-up with DTV in order to get more exclusive content on NFLN.

I wish it was on every provider and wound up costly only $99 for the season. If it was on every provider I think it could be that low. That would be amazing.

Use to pay 79 bucks a year for this thing back in the 90's when it was on the "big" dish

It will be very interesting on how this ends up.
I can tell you how it will end up: consumers paying more no matter the solution.

That would make too much sense. They love to tell us how competition is a great for consumers but when it's bad for their business and we pay for it.

Wow, thanks for the info. It will come in handy this season if/when the Boys aren't shown locally. Clearly I didn't know that was possible, so this will not only be helpful, but I won't have to worry about missing a game. There are always internet feeds as a backup, but I would rather see the game on the big screen in HD. I don't mind paying by the game at all.

I'm worried about all this kind of stuff leading to an eventual PPV situation, I mean it basically already is for out of market customers. And I really don't think we want it to get to that. You are supposedly already paying for it by watching commercials, and then you add a cable/satellite provider and NFLSundayTicket on top of that.

Yep, but exclusive rights to any one company is a bad idea. So to your point, it'd be great if multiple providers got access.

We were thinking of switching to Time Warner from DirecTv anyways. Not too sure about other cable companies that offer phone and internet bundles as well. We can't get FIOS and not sure of any other companies.

Not sure that works financially for them, unless they make NFLN a Premium channel the way HBO is.

Make no mistake, Sunday Ticket going Non-Exclusive is what's best for consumers and exactly why it won't happen.

I've had it with Sunday Ticket. I bought it to see the Seattle game last year (year before last 5 or 6 games weren't on locally which was the first time ALL of them weren't on since I've lived in Tennessee, and I have Directv everything package), and that was the only game that wasn't on here the entire season. They have lost a customer forever.

You should be sending them a thank you letter, that gamed burned to he core...

You're welcome. I don't think they advertise it. I didn't have to use that feature last season, but I assume they still have it. I THINK (and it's entirely possible I'm mixing up multiple things here) that it stems from them being sued for requiring customers to buy the entire year and not having the option to buy the game they want by the week. At least my memory says that happened.

Don't Care love DT, if they drop the NFL my price im sure would come down, cable TV is one of the worst monopolies ever without internet I would have dropped them as well, The only thing cable has in the internet and hopefully there is a fix for that as well.
