That might depend when you were in the military and where you were stationed.

While in Korea in the late 80's I think we were only tested once.
While in Ft Polk, Louisiana, my next duty station, we were tested once a month.

In my stint from 81 - 92 we were tested often... one time with only 3 days between tests

I went through the military and never once got tested for pot. I have never heard of that happening to someone else. I had heard from one of my superiors that they only were testing the people they thought would definitely pass the test to make themselves look good. I wonder what that says about me

That said, I am sure this is like baseball and that the union warns people well before the tests. You only get caught if you are a moron.

You must've been in the Navy or something, because in the Army drugs are no laughing matter, all the way down to prescription drugs.

I don't know when you joined, but since the late 80's, everyone gets tested the morning after they arrive at bootcamp. After that, it's supposed to be a certain percentage of the personnel over a years time, randomly.

By the way, marijuana is illegal, whether you like it or not. Alcohol is not illegal. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but I will say this, the stuff (marijuana) makes people flat out lazy. Our society is ate up with laziness as it is, people sitting around all day, collecting wellfare and food stamps, in government housing with no desire whatsoever to get a job. The last thing we need is to condone them smoking a substance that will only make them even lazier, and eventually lead to medical problems that myself and the rest of the working population get to pay for, on top of every thing else we support them on already.

You know what makes people lazy...laziness! I've worked with folks who enjoyed burning the "greenery" and they were some of the hardest workers & highest (no pun intended, even though I lol'd) producers in our dept.! Only folks who were worthless in the first place will become MORE worthless while getting fried...

When I was in they randomly chose numbers 0-9 and if the last digit of your SSN matched you pee'd in a bottle.
