FYI Skins fans and Len have a history with each other. He hates us and once told a fan "I hate you F*ckers." This stems from the Skins not giving Lenny the inside scoop when Gibbs came back in 04. Pretty sure even PFT guy mentioned how much he hates the Skins. Now im not condoning what the 1 poster said in the ES thread. Ill go and be a zebra now.

We’ve been advised that ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli underwent quintuple heart bypass surgery on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. We wish him a quick and full recovery.

A source who was in the room tells us that Len was showing all of the symptoms of heart trouble during the Hall of Fame voting on Saturday — shortness of breath, pale, shivering.

“He was absolutely suffering through the voting, and he stayed in that room,” the source said. “I begged him to just fill out his ballots, leave, and get to a hospital. But he not only stayed, he wrote a story on the voting afterward. When he finally sought medical help, he was rushed into surgery.”

We’ve had our differences with Len, and a lot of it was in our early days, when we were looking to get noticed. But the guy is a grinder, and he truly has a passion for the NFL and the work that he does. His willingness to disregard how he was feeling in order to take of business is something we respect, and we hope he’ll be back on the job very soon.

We’re not saying we’re never going to disagree with him. But we definitely have a much different view of him.

We’ve also been told that Peter King of Sports Illustrated was hospitalized on Sunday with bronchitis, and was unable to attend the game.

My father had quad bypass surgery last summer. In all actuality, it's not that major of a surgery anymore.

The surgery is about 5 hrs and you are usually up and walking that night. My pops was. I was pretty impressed w/ the whole ordeal. I thought it was big until his doctor told me he performs 6-8 each week @ about $150k a pop, just for his services.

Get well Len. Tho you are most likely writing from the comfy environment of your bedroom.

Newlander, sorry for your loss.

After heart surgery, they will tell you that you can NEVER shovel snow EVER again! for a couple of the reasons you list above.

They will tell you that after 2-3 minutes of shoveling snow, your heart is pounding at the rate of a marathon runner, and like you say the cold is a factor while shoveling snow as well.

Scary stuff.

As I have refused to buy a Snow blower and passing 40. Two obervations on people that shovel snow. The novice feels a need to get a full shovel full and "throw it". That is very exhausting. Buy a wider metal shovel that is more snow plow like in appearance. Just push the snow to the bank and its a slight lft to get get it off driveway. Do this in criss cross patterns and you can do in 15 minutes what takes others an hour and at 1/3 of the effort. I even have seen this done with sheets of plywood in smaller snowfalls.

And pace your self and take breaks if need be.

i hear ya....i am too fat....i am almost 260....and it is not all muscle either, in fact it is little muscle.

i have decided to do something about it. I would like to get down to 200 lbs by September. 200 is still overweight, but it is a lot more manageable than 260. Plus I would have more energy and stamina to handle daily activities.....

My biggest problem is that I am addicted to sugar. I also, love bread and pasta. If I can find the will power to cut out the sugar and extensively lessen the amount of complex carbs.....I should be fine....

If not, I could be the next Lenny P

i am a dreamer....full of ambition....unfortunately i completely lack self motivation.

i am great at being able to motivate others....i can be very persuasive. however, when it comes to myself, I seem to be completely deaf to my own words.....and completely lazy.

plus working out is boring. what i need is one of those jobs that give you money for getting into and staying in shape. several large corporations do this.
