Cowboys safety Barry Church is warning Lions receiver Golden Tate that Sunday’s game will be payback time for a hit that Tate landed on Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee two years ago. But Tate doesn’t sound too worried.

Asked about Church’s comments, Tate said he had never even heard of Church until he was told that Church was talking about him.

“Man, I don’t know this guy,” Tate said, via ESPN. “I just now heard of him yesterdayfrom this incident. He’s trying to get on the scene, I guess. We’ll see.”

I don't have a problem with Barry Church at all. It is refreshing to see the Cowboys this invested. You could never tell with some of these past teams. It's not like Church is manufacturing this story....or talking bad about Tate's mom or wife. This is a new era of Cowboys football....and letting someone know we coming for you let's me know these Cowboys are not resting on having a great season that no one saw coming.

Well I guess Tate hasn't been studying film if he's never heard of Church. What have you been doing Tate to get ready for the game? That would be my question. At the end of the day Church is now in his head since he had to take time out and think about it and respond. So Tate tell me how that doesn't effect your team?

Funny....Even though Tate is more known than Church right now, you talk to anyone outside of football, they will be like "Golden who?" He acts as if his name is widely known like Megatron, Moss, Dez, Romo, Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, TO, ect ect

When fans(Of detriot) I run into on the courts or the gym regarding this playoff match up, his name is never brought up. I think that is more telling.

Good point - I think he is in his head a little bit and as somebody told me it will be hard for him to ignore when he's going across the middle.

After reading the whole thing, I wouldn't mind church doing a little early head hunting. I wouldn't mind a 15 yard penalty anywhere from their 20-35 yard line, above the shoulders, that maybe rocks his neck back. Maybe snap it a little, take him out the game, or career end-er. Nope, wouldn't bother me. Might giggle a little.

I don't fully agree. Before I explain I must preface this with the statement of fact that I've always had a strong dislike for Golden Tate. I think the guy is a punk. Having said that -- couple of random thoughts about him:
  • He does a good job of getting himself in the middle of big play at big moments -- think about his role in Fail Mary, as a member of the Seahawks superbowl team, etc
  • He absolutely SHOCKED me this season when he showed he could be a #1 WR. 99 catches for 1331 yards while mainly playing second fiddle to Megatron (that's more receptions and yards than Dez)... I wasn't expecting that. He was especially great when Megatron was out. I never thought Tate was anywhere that good
  • The block on Sean Lee. I know it's been debated to death here on CZ. Here is what I would say about it -- I'd would have been screaming at the TV yelling "Hell Yeah!" if that tables were turned and a 195 lb Cowboys WR would have laid out a 240 Seahawks LB. I'd venture to guess most of us would
Where am I going with all this? I'm not sure other than to say I think the guy is a punk HOWEVER, I must admin I respect his game.

I must admit I know more about Tate's reported rumored extracurricular activities with Russell Wilson's wife than his play on the field.

No he's a good WR. All I'm saying is, anyone outside of football wouldn't know who he is. For instance the Female I'm with, If I ask her who Golden tate is, she would be like "Who?" Vs Tom Brady, Megatron or Rodgers, or even Dez I'm sure she would know, or have heard of them.

My statement has nothing to do with his game. His game is solid, and on point IMO.
