Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Hardy still hasn’t made a decision regarding a potential lawsuit following the July 10 ruling that dropped his suspension from 10 games to four — two more than Hardy contends he should have received under the version of the Personal Conduct Policy in effect at the time he violated it.

He has four options: (1) do nothing; (2) sue and seek a preliminary injunction allowing him to play after serving a two-game suspension, until the case is resolved; (3) sue and don’t seek an injunction, serving the full suspension (if the case isn’t resolved by Week Three) and being compensated for his lost earnings if he prevails; or (4) sue, seek the preliminary injunction, and then try to settle the case.

Hardy, per the source, has decided to follow the lead of the NFL Players Association. It’s possible that the NFLPA has opted simply to let this one slip away quietly, given the potential P.R. fallout from pushing for Hardy to receive only a two-game suspension for committing multiple alleged/actual acts of domestic violence. It’s also possible that the NFLPA wants to see what happens with Tom Brady’s case before making a final decision.

I wonder if Florio could have run the article with just the second paragraph? The second paragraph is pretty solid and lacks the hearsay of the other two.

I think Hardy will opt for doing nothing. Perhaps he will serve his suspension and get it permanently behind him without any additional melodrama.

The part that sucks for me is that two of the games he's slated to miss are key games against division rivals.

I was creeping some Eagles fans yesterday, and they agreed that Hardy should have "been a man" and served the full 10 game suspension instead of fighting it.

Hahaha, sure they do. And I prefer Tom Brady does the same in his case. They are smarter than I thought, those despicable fans. I think I have maybe underestimated them.

It truly is atrocious how they try to make the situation sound worse to make their point. I am not purporting to know exactly what happened nor condoning anything that may have happened that night, but what is clear, is that it was ONE incident. To say it is was multiple acts of domestic violence is to imply there were several separate incidents that occurred. This is very disingenuous at best.

Florio clearly buys into the NFL way of counting

I hope Hardy wins another appeal to have this ridiculous suspension reduced or removed all together. I hope Brady's suspension is rescinded as well.

I noticed that too. If they're going to say Hardy has been in trouble for multiple incidents, then they have an obligation to provide accounts of the other incidents.

Brady needs to serve some time. I believe he is out and out lying.

And if the accusation against Hardy counts as four incidents, Aldon Smith counts as 12,849 incidents for every drink he took.

Things should get a lot clearer this week after the Peterson contempt of court hearing on the 13th and the initial Brady conference.

Hardy has nothing to lose by fighting. There won't be any PR backlash. Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson are both already eligible to play Week One and they took plea deals.
