Right now looks as if Corpus Cristie will get more of the storm than Houton, so Houston should be ok for the game, the water should hang there that long.
Houston could get hit the second time. It's supposed to go back out to sea, then turn around and crawl up the coast Houston could get 4 feet of rain.

What?

Not ready to play a football game on Thursday?

They are definitely going to move it and that's not all - you have to look forward to week one and moving that game to Jacksonville because this is going to be catastrophic. 12 straight hours of 100+ winds and three feet of rain and it's going to linger for three days - that area is going to be unrecognizable.

After Katrina, perception, safety, and consequences are going to be scrutinized. Nobody is going to be thinking football - they will be wondering when their electricity will come back.

After going through Hurricane Charlie, a Cat 4 in Florida - If you live anywhere near there - stay safe - pay attention - and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Exaggerate much?

This is going to be a significant weather event for Houston, but nothing like the apocalyptic scenario you're describing. I'll be surprised if the game gets moved.

How many hurricanes have you been through?

I've been through about ten and the weeks after are miserable and there is an absolute disruption of life and it's going to happen in and around Houston. Your "Coogs" got moved to Austin until further notice if it isn't so bad why would they do this? Precautions maybe? Sensitivity to public perception, especially after Katrina?

I see the same things happening with the Texans.

I certainly hope not and I hope you're right. - but not an exaggeration.

I've lived here 30+ years, so I think I know the difference between a heavy rain situation and a truly dangerous hurricane.

The worst of Harvey (high winds and storm surge) came ashore almost 200 miles from here. So far all we've gotten is some heavy rain. I drove around the Heights this morning to take a look around. White Oak Bayou is close to overflowing it's banks and there is some localized street flooding in the usual spots, but the overall it's not too bad. We're still looking at a couple more days of rain so things will likely get worse before they get better, but we've had far worse weather events than this.

I have been through 20 or so storms myself but do you really not see how bad it is and will get worse? Down my way to League City is underwater, I lost my home last night.

There are areas unaffected but don't expect it to stay that way. To say this isn't a big deal is unfair and premature. There is devastating loss already.

Was anyone staying at your house? If so, I hope they are doing well

That sucks, my sister in law lives in Spring, she said the water got about an inch away, but receded when they got a break in the rain. They still have a couple more days to deal with.

Yep, Coog fan didn't get you were talking about him. Opps (to his reaction and subsequent reaction is right)

This release from The National Weather Service sums it up--

NWS

"THIS EVENT IS UNPRECEDENTED & IMPACTS ARE UNKNOWN AND BEYOND ANYTHING EXPERIENCED. FOLLOW ORDERS TO ENSURE SAFETY."

People are calling this release "chilling" and they have never seen a release like this from them. This page pretty much sums it up.

Let me be clear, this is not about being right.

Those poor people are in serious trouble and they have three more days of incredible flooding ahead of them.

There isn't going to be a football game in Houston this week and maybe beyond and there shouldn't be.

Any attempt to minimize this catastrophe is ridicules.

You were right. I am extremely fortunate to live in a neighborhood that has been spared so far; others haven't been so lucky. Lesson learned.

Free tickets!

Actually, I'm only halfway joking, wasn't that Bills game that was moved to Detroit free? And it was a real football game, not preseason trash... maybe they can charge 50 cents for tickets and split the proceeds to the David Carr Memorial Fund and the Jones Romo College Tuition fund...

The tickets are free - the parking is...... :omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg:

What a catastrophe. My God the water came within inches of entering my home and my home is a good 1 and 1-2 to 2 feet above ground. Houston won't be hosting anything for a while.

Yea, I know many who experienced that........mere inches. Looks like the big test is this evening/tonight, get past that and you should be golden. Still have power?

The paper this morning said Texans will practice at Ford Stadium at the Star today in the morning and tomorrow in the afternoon as not to coincide with the Cowboys practice last this afternoon and tomorrow morning which I'll be at.
