News: [PFT]: I think if I had $40 million, I'd be the happiest man alive. - Micah Parsons

Myles Garrett just signed for $40 million.

Jamar Chase then signed for $40.25 million.

You offfer Micah $40.5 million and he signs today.

It’s so easy even a caveman could do it. We are not a serious football team.
I gave you a like for your last sentence!!!!

But that was said for Jerry to go shopping.
If Jerry isn't buying some big name FAs than forget it. Why should Parsons take a discount for Jerry to put the money in his pocket.
Salary min, salary min. Money has to be spent, not going in Jerry's pockets.

Parsons has already set himself up for argumentative dealings by stating that he's willing to allow the Cowboys less than a maximum deal this season. That's just what this FO wants to hear. If the deal gets argumentative, Micah has nobody to blame but himself. He'll likely be expected to keep his word. Now the FO all the ammo they need to argue. Micah should have remained silent. Advantage, Cowboys.
And this isn't the only time.

I thought there was a required minimum for the team to spend and once the is met your free and clear. Anything over that is money in the owners pocket.

Maybe some, I just don't think saving a small amount is important to Jerry.

I read that it is something like 92% of the cap, and they can keep the 8% if it stays available
for like 3 seasons.
Knowing the greedy jones boys, they will do anything to get that 8% ! lol

I question why a loophole like that would be there to start with.
Defeats the purpose of the cap, and greedy owners like jerry cant help themselves and will
go for it.

Each team must spend 89% of the cap over any four year period. The NFL as a whole must spend 95% of the cap over any four year period. No ownership group would allow some of their own to perpetually fall short of the 95%. Teams can rollover cap space to the following year, but must inform the league after their last regular season game they plan to do so.

Jerry Jones may be a lot of things, but he is not shorting the roster on player compensation to put money in his pocket. He’s no more or less greedy than any other owners. He employs the highest paid player in the history of the NFL for god’s sake. Obviously he’s not afraid to sign players to large contracts.

Today's players are all about how much money they can get away with. I'm done supporting today's greedy players. Trade them, Jerry, while you can get a bunch of draft picks for them.

Per the CBA, the players get 48% of total league revenue. That includes revenue from all sources, like TV contracts, ticket sales, streaming rights, gambling apps like MGM Grand, DraftKings, and FanDuel, ect...

The NFL makes billions and billions of dollars each year in pure profit and yet when the players get what is contractually owed to them, per the CBA, they are called greedy???

There is a salary cap in play.

Wisen up.

The salary cap is based upon league revenue, it is not set by a magical fairy.

When league revenue goes up, so does the salary cap, and so does players salary.

This is not hard to understand, not sure why you are having a problem with it.
No problem, except Dak, CeeDee, Trevon, Steele, Osa and a few others already have big contracts. Due next are Micah, Tyler Smith, Bland, Sam Williams and a few more. How are the Cowboys going to afford them all with the others already occupying huge contracts?

Jerry doesn't spend wisely! He overpays for Prescott and than complains they can't afford Henry.

"Jerry Jones may be a lot of things, but he is not shorting the roster on player compensation to put money in his pocket." LOL

"He’s no more or less greedy than any other owners"....Never said he was,but I imagine the teams
that are trying to win, are using every last cap dollar on players , spending 100% of cap.
Jerry is obsessed with making more money,so he is definitely putting cap $ in his pocket.

10% of say 270 mil is 27 mil, which is a nice chunk of $ to put in ones pocket.
I think this is partly why they lowball players, and pay as little as possible for many players.

"He employs the highest paid player in the history of the NFL for god’s sake. Obviously he’s not afraid to sign players to large contracts." this is meaningless to what we are talking about.
He pays the stars well , after he drags out the contract talks for a long time.
I saw a show yesterday, posted here, and they talked about how jerry is prolonging signing micah
unnecessarily.

Horrible article, so little info for context and no idea of who is saying what. PFT just click bait garbage might as well call it TMZ-NFL

Micah was the top rated LB out of college against the run.

This team has been wildly misusing him pitting him against the teams LT and RT consistently. If they would wake up and play him at MLB and utilize his speed, we would have Roquan Smith on the team. Instead. They put him at DE and he gets washed out by tackles and by week 10 he’s dead to rights.

Blame the coaching staff and FO not the player.
While true Micah himself would sit out if they tried to make him the MLB...MLB's dont get 40 mill....but im with you putting him stationary on the edge where the OC can find him easy is a horrible plan.

No, you missed. Greedy is taking up so much of the cap that the team cannot compete for a super bowl. No one gives a fried bird turd what the players make on a personal note. How did you miss this so badly?
