Nah. He was here when Roy was actually the player we all wanted him to be.

I respectfully disagree. Glover was who the other teams game planned for, he was the most disruptive player on the DL, which is the key position group in a 4-3 defense, with the exception of his last year in Dallas (when Cowboys moved/moving toward the 3-4).

Looking back, it boggles my mind that Parcells changed schemes, preferring to remove Glover (multiple time pro bowl 3 technique tackle) to insert Bradie James.

All Parcells needed was a true pass rushing RDE, and maybe a SAM backer. The other positions on the front 7 were set:

LDE: Greg Ellis
DT: La'Roi Glover
DT: Jason Ferguson
RDE: ?

SAM: Al Singleton
MIKE: Dat Nguyen / Bradie James
WILL: Dexter Coakley

In 2005, Dallas could have taken Ware and Derrick Johnson (might have needed a trade up) and been just as effective. Instead, Parcells had to draft EVERY SINGLE position (except for MILB) for his 3-4, some positions he had to draft several times.

Not really complaining, just shocked at how thorough the rebuilding was.

Best post Super Bowl era defender Dallas had until DeMarcus Ware.
Parcells misused this man, like Ratliff the man could play, size be damned.

One of my top 5 favorite Free Agent signings ever.
Well there haven't been many to brag about unfortunately.

Deion Sanders- 1995
Rocket Ismail- 1999
LaRoi Glover- 2002
Terrell Owens- 2006
Leonard Davis- 2007
Ken Hamlin- 2007

These are the only "impact" players Dallas has really done well with.

Although i really liked Fred Strickland in 1996, he was eons better than Robert Jones and when he intercepted Elvis Grbac so that Switzer could finally beat the Niners, it was awesome. Actually Broderick Thomas was good that year too, knocked Steve Young out of that same game.

So put me down for Fred Strickland and Broderick Thomas as sleeper pick ups, the above list were people that were supposed to excel.

That's going a little far, but it certainly was a good one.
How is it going a little far if it is MY opinion. I'm not saying it has to be yours. It is MINE.

Calm down, don't have a coronary. I failed to put the words "in my opinion" in before "that's going a little far."

There are a few others that go back in our History a ways. Don't forget guys like Jay Novacek either.

I echo all of the above sentiments and wish La Roi the best in retirement. He would probably make someone a good D-line coach.

Plan B was more or less waivers, not the same as unrestricted bidding wars.

Out of the modern free agency era that dates back to 1993 Dallas has definitely lost more talent than its acquired and the only "stars" were those in that list, Hamlin might be a stretch to call "star" but he was a second round pick and a Super Bowl starter.

When a player gets waived they are a Free Agent same as if their contract expires without a new deal.

Herb Adderley
Thomas Everett
Preston Pearson
Mike Ditka

A few more names. We've had some great Free Agents end up in Dallas.

Thomas Everett was traded from Pittsburgh for a fifth round pick.

And I see what you're saying but typically waivers means cast offs, free agency means courtship of cream of la creme.
