Javon Walker w/ Denver

Year Team G GS Rec Yds Avg Lg TD 20+ 40+ 1st
2006 Broncos 16 16 69 1084 15.7 83 8 16 4 53

Terrell Owens w/ Dallas
Year Team G GS Rec Yds Avg Lg TD 20+ 40+ 1st
2006 Cowboys 16 15 85 1180 13.9 56 13 18 4 62

Owens had more yards, more receptions, more TD's, more 1st downs.... more more more.... Javon has him on average - THATS IT

hey - if we're going to extol the virtues that owens has, let's put:

1. drops
2. media distractions (each counting on it's own)
3. his own mouth making problems
4. team distractions

i'm not saying TO had a bad year - quite the contrary. but he's still TO and just not worth the production you get out of him for the PITAFactor that goes into him. in the end, i'll take walker over owens every time.

I am just NOT for having a lesser player with less production just for the sake of getting a guy off the team. What did TO do that negatively affected the season? What could you blame TO for that our season ended early in playoff game #1?

of course, javon walker is much younger...also a factor.

A non-factor in my book. Age is not an issue for TO. He will play ala Jerry Rice and be productive.

So...you dont care that while TO may be a good receiver here for 3 years, Javon Walker could play for 10?

That's a pretty big factor to me. I'd have rather gone with Walker, JUST for that reason.

Was'nt it the Packer fans that Moss mooned one time during a game?

I wonder what they would think of him if he signed with the Packers?

(probably how some Cowboy fans felt about T.O. after the Boyz signed him)!

;)
Mooning the crowd or pretending to be Vince McMahan while standing on the insignia of the best franchise in the NFL. It's all good.

look, if you wanna sit there and stroke your TO wood, have a day. i'm not gonna get sidetracked into stupidity today cause someone has some raw-wounds running around about their favorite player.

if you think TO was a saint last year - fine. i think the media made up 80% of the crap but i think over time TO has brought 80% of the made up stuff upon himself by being TO and having to have the spotlight on him or he freaks.

And...Tim Brown played for how long???

It doesnt mean a thing. I would rather win a SB with TO in the next 2 years than have Javon here for 10(unrealistic to think you could anyway but...) and win nothing.

I don't understand what Tim Brown and Jerry Rice have to do with anything. They, like all players, eventually broke down and became ineffective. TO is no different. And he is much closer to that jumping off point than Walker is.

Age is a huge factor.

oh, it's realistic to think that TO will last as long as (2) legends of the game but walker can't go 10 years on a team?

wow - how much did your TO underroos cost you?

Is Javon a saint? There is a reason Green Bay traded him. Few players are on T.O.'s level of team disruption and making noise, but Walker made some that pushed the Packers into getting rid of him. He is talented enough to keep around, yet they were compelled to trade him away.

How many WR's are signed to 10 year deals? and of that bunch how many are staying all 10 years???

The 'roos were cheap... got them with the popcorn ;)

That is true.

It was a contract thing, though - and this may be stupid on my part, but I generally side with the player on that. He wasn't calling teammates gay, or showing up with T-shirts flipping the bird a la Jerry Porter. He wanted a new contract, and he was doing what he could to get one.

and now they're going for a bigger headcase in moss, go figure.

look, just because 1 team doesn't work out for a player doesn't mean the player is garbage. if everyone followed that logic then steve young never would have gotten out of tampa, right?

that's a pretty simplistic view that's usually done for self-serving purposes.

Yup!

how many "players" are signed to 10 years deals? not many,so that point alone is pointless.

if we're talking about the overall "potentail" to help a team, walker at this point in his career can help a team for "potentially" a longer duration than TO can *now*.

I don't think Walker is garbage. I would take Javon over Terrell at this point in their careers if it was a straight up proposition. It wasn't at the time because T.O. was free agent and Walker was not.

I was just pointing out that Walker is a potential head case. His contract issue shows part of that potential. I usually also side with the player, but the Packers were not in a good position. He was asking a lot from them although he was coming back from a severe injury and only played in 1 game in 2005. He was a bit unreasonable.

We know T.O. is the biggest head case out and there are few that compare to him, but Walker has a little of that in him. That has to be a factor when considering Walker.
