NFL apologizes for tweet making light of Mexico earthquake

The official Twitter account for NFL Mexico posted a tweet in Spanish that translates to, “Those times Mexico City shakes with an earthquake because it can’t believe the Chiefs have won the #Kickoff2017 game.” The tweet was followed with three emojis.

Later the NFL apologized for that.

“NFL Mexico apologizes for yesterday’s unacceptable tweet, which does not represent the values of the league. We reiterate our solidarity with Mexico,” the same Twitter account posted in a subsequent tweet.

Further proof that the league office is run by children.

Do those apologies get generated automatically? They all follow the same formula: we apologize, that doesn't represent our views, our condolences go to whoever.

Hilarious, but in todays world, apologies usually only happen when someone is called out usually in the news or in social media, etc. Rarely are they apologetic right after the fact, before someone else has replied with their disdain for the offense. As in saying they are really sorry before the storm happens.

Yep. I agree. It's all PR tactics. They don't apologize until it starts to become a PR nightmare.
