After dispensing no additional discipline beyond the grading process in response to multiple errors made by the officials during the Week 11 Monday night game, the NFL has decided to take action in response to mistakes made during one of the two late-afternoon games from the twelfth Sunday of the regular season. They were terrible sunday. worst officiating game I've seen in a long, long while. Didn't know the rules, didn't know what down it was. I think they were scheduled for SNF, which PFT has corrected.

Apparently, it's not punishment. They got moved to a larger audience game.

UPDATE 10:20 a.m. ET: An earlier version of this item explained that Morelli’s crew had been reassigned from the Monday night game between Dallas and Washington. The crew had been assigned to work the Sunday night game between the Colts and Steelers, which actually will have a significantly larger audience given that it will be televised on a broadcast network, not cable.

If you think the comments in here are ridiculous, you should read some that are posted after articles like this one. Some are not bad, some are just funny.

Cowboys vs Commanders…..no matter what you feel about it, this is still a huge rivalry for these two fan-bases. This is also the Cowboy’s “Superbowl” every season because playing against the Commanders is the only thing they get up for anymore.

This game also holds huge implications for the NFC East, so only the best officials should be officiating it

I think they got that backwards. I get up more for the Eagles and Giants then I do the Commanders. I just find that team to be an irritant more than anything.

I don't know if I'm speeding through too many commercials but I'm not seeing that Statefarm commercial with the refs not knowing the rules lately. I wonder if the NFL threw their fist down and put an end to that commercial that was too close to reality.

A correction at PFT says the Morelli crew was taken off the Sunday game, not the Monday game, and moved to another game. They didn't say which one, but our game is now one of the other games eligible to be graced by the presence of the Morelli crew. My guess would be they will be moved to a 12:00 Sunday game out of the spotlight. I'm gonna laugh if the NFL puts the Guns crew on the Sunday game.

It's still on. I love that commercial, cracks my simple mind up.

Its laughable how many times we have been screwed by the refs this season........not blaming the losses on the refs because we suck, but still.

Watch us get Hocculi again, I don't think we have won a single game his crew has done in like forever........at least in seems like that.

The refs were supposed to keep the football players within the rules of the game however now have become a new featured performance piece as a part of the games entertainment. Face it, growing up we never much knew who the refs were and didn't care. Now they are a large part of the conversation through the week and have their own microphones as judges. They are a new entertainment piece of the NFL who is running with it all the way to the bank. The broadcasting stations employ retired refs as commentators to heighten the suspense adding more commercial time to the game, while ultimately awaiting the drum roll and "final decision from NY". We're adding new decision makers into the games process and It's almost like waiting for the thumbs up or down from the Roman emperor in Gladiator. What happened to football as a game? It got rich and now everyone wants to cash in.
Meanwhile the sheep just keep filing into the arena to pay for more drama and entertainment this one time "sport" has to offer. Now we focus on the big screen celebration dances and the concussed or hurt players all being checked by all their doctors begging to go back in. It's all now become a spectacle with individual statistics for the fantasy fans, gamblers.
Wow get me a lone star longneck. I'm way too cynical in my old age.

Somebody tell those Commanders fans that those are the toughest tickets to SELL on the schedule here. Nobody wants them. They're like the Vancouver Canucks.

It a start. If they could find some extra money hiring professional full time refs would be cool.
