RUMORS FLY OF QUINN TO RAIDERS
There are rumors right now in media circles that the Raiders are closing in on a deal with (drum roll, please) Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn, who would then be named the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network tipped us off to the rumor. Mark Maske of the Washington Post acknowledges the rumor in a Friday afternoon chat, but he says he's not reporting that the deal is done.

We heard earlier in the week that the Raiders had made an initial offer to Quinn. We have since heard that, while hard numbers were not presented to Quinn's agent, Tom Condon, there was enough discussion about parameters and terms to give him a sufficient idea as to the ballpark amount of the deal.

Scott Wright had this to say:

I have actually heard this rumor and have made a few calls but can't confirm it. I can tell you this though: Word is Lane Kiffen thinks Quinn is a better fit for his offense than Russell so if by some chance Al Davis wants to give the new guy the benefit of the doubt...

I hope this happens, it could so turn this draft upside down.

I don't think it would. Cleveland would pounce on Russell at #3 unless they slid up to #2 for him. Most had them taking Quinn anyway so Russell/Quinn would go 1/3 as expected, just in a different order.

There'd still be the same demand for CJ.

Raiders | Deal with Cleveland a possibility?

ESPN's Ed Werder reports there is a chance the Oakland Raiders work out a trade with the Cleveland Browns during the first round of the NFL Draft. There is speculation the Browns could send WR Braylon Edwards to the Raiders in addition to the No. 3 pick overall for the first-overall selection.

Interesting they quote Ed Werder of ESPN and ESPN's site has nothing of this info.

Braylon Edwards must be a first rate turd.

Maybe he put on some weight and will play on the line. Yeah thats it. He is their next right tackle.

Its all over the internet that Jamarcus Russell was interviewed on sports radio in Los Angeles and said he hasn't been in contact with the Raiders today.

I think it may be a combination of both. Raiders could end up with Edwards and the third pick, which will be Quinn, who will be in agreement on a contract as long as he is still there at three.

The Browns will draft Johnson and hope Frye develops. As far as Johnson is concerned, Frye can't be any worse than Ball was.

That is because Al Davis hasn't gotten up yet. Or he can't see the buttons on his tiny cell phone to call Russell.

I don't know...I still think the Browns would be in the market for a QB which would still have Rusell as the first pick.

Of course, in trading B. Edwards away, they could be in the market for a WR too...so it could go either way.

I just don't see the Browns being too confident in Frye being their qb of the future and if they draft Russell, it gives the Browns head coach an excuse not to get fired till the second or third year of Russell coming in.

We will see what happens...
