We first suspected that the Cowboys might make a play for Lewis when the team signed his brother, running back Keon Lattimore, to a free-agent contract after the 2008 draft.

Are you kidding me?

It'll be interesting to see which offer he eventually takes. Either: a) a reasonable deal with Baltimore than sees him retire with the only team he has ever played for or b) a more hefty deal which has him retire with the Cowboys.

I don't think any one said RL was smart.

Bring him in Jerry, I know we would have to pay the man alot of money but his leadership alone would be worth it in my opinion. Sure he is proabably not the Elite LB he once was but he can still be a good player in this league for another 2 years.

I'm willing to bring him in at just about all costs, outside of not being able to sign ware because of the cap.

I'm starting to question this so called great relationship the ravens have with lewis. I'm like many on here who think lewis is just using us as leverage. My question is why wouldn't the ravens do everything in their power to keep lewis happy and in baltimore. I realize tough decisions have to be made, but listening to lewis in these interviews it dosent look like lewis would be shedding any tears if he left .

Ray probably knows that if he comes to Dallas and the defense becomes dominant (which it is pretty close to doing anyway)... he'll be loved by the largest fan base in the United States. He would be adored by Cowboys fans everywhere. His earning potential outside of football would probably go through the roof.

Ray Lewis wasn't showing this team or the franchise much respect when he was out there on the sidelines closing out Texas Stadium. So his romantic comments do not work for me.

1. What did he do that was disrespectful?

2. Somehow, even if he did do something disrespectful, I don't think it would be much of a problem...

It doesn't get more disrespectful than this, and this guy became a cowboy.

No chance he comes to Dallas unless we switch back to a 4-3. He has voiced, on several occasions, his displeasure with the 3-4 and its effect on his production is proven.

Not so sure about the last part. In my opinion, I can't see him doing more than Madden and Under Armour like-endorsements, even with an associate with the Cowboys.

So he wants to play for the Star, eh???

Take him at his word. Four year deal, 4 mil SB, 16 mil overall, with 10 mil over the last two years.

They were talking about this today on NFL network before they started the new round of Combine stuff. Interesting information.

Yeah he looked like total crap the last two years playing in a 3-4 and pretty much being dominate.

But, yeah, keep holding onto that several year old idea that he can't play in the 3-4.

That has been proven wrong for a few years in a row now.

I vote "YES" for Ray Lewis. He is the kinda leadership Dallas needs to get back on track. Simply letting go the "problem causers" isn't going to fix everything.

Terrell Owens was also capable of delivering more than two years at a high level. Ray Lewis will not be doing much of anything past 2011.

That's only cause you haven't seen my pilot script for Ray Lewis: The Animated Series.

Who knows what wild and wacky adventures Ray will get into this week?

Maybe so... but I think if Ray came to Dallas and a team known for being unable to get over that "hump" suddenly became a dominant defense and went on to win some playoff games (particularly if we won a super bowl)... endorsement deals would be lining up for the guy. I could see him doing a lot of different things if Dallas did indeed go on a deep run with him.

Like I said, we are pretty close to becoming a dominant defense already (with Phillips acting as defensive coordinator) and if Lewis is smart, he ought to know that we are one or two pieces away from playing championship defense. If he comes here and we suddenly start shutting offenses down, he's going to get more credit than he really deserves. Winning a playoff game would be, at least in part, credited to Ray being in Dallas.

Don't forget that he is likely very egotistical, like most athletes... and he probably does think that he could make a big difference in Dallas. He probably does think we will go far with him.

It would just be a very good situation for Lewis to be in... no matter if he got more endorsement deals or not. I do think those opportunities would be there for him though.

If I was a veteran on the decline looking for that one last big contract, Jerry Jones' door would be the first one I would knock on. He would be one of the few GMs in this league to be willing to bother offering me whatever I wanted.

There is a reason why we get linked to nearly every high profile free agent name there is. And I doubt is because they "want to wear the star".

Ray Lewis wasn't showing this team or the franchise much respect when he was out there on the sidelines closing out Texas Stadium. So his romantic comments do not work for me.

Well there's a no sense, agenda ridden post. If there was just the slightest track-record for this, I'd be like alright fine, but there's just not.

If anything, the exact opposite. Jerry has a track-record for pushing aging stars on the decline, out of Dallas. The only time the opposite has EVER happen is under Bill Parcells. Even Emmitt and Troy found the door pretty quickly when there time came. And by your over-exaggerated account, they should still be on payroll like Key, Terry, Richie, Drew and Vinny probably still are, as part of the Parcells' Project Payroll-For-Life Underground.
