Vet minimum plus incentives.

See how bad he really wants to play here.

As far as the OP goes, I think this is some dream stuff in the making. Ware and Lewis could be unstoppable the likes of Suggs and Lewis could only dream of being. And Ware most likely easily gets the sack record with Lewis alongside as long as both can stay healthy.

The best part will be accountability. What happen to us against Baltimore last season at the end of the game, doesn't happen without accountability with a Ray Lewis on this team. He would take blunders like that on his defense so personally it would ring throughout this team for the next week.

To top it off, he's taken a personal liking towards Ware- and from the likes of it it looks like he's been this way for a good year or two. Yea so what, maybe Lewis won't beable to come in and immediately make our team bow down to him like they do in Baltimore, but perhaps he can teach a player like Ware who will be here a long time to come to become that type of player for us instead. He may even crack the skulls of a few more of our players while he's at it too, letting some of it seep their ways also.

To end; Look at what a Cowboy fan he actually seems to be. This isn't the only article out there stating this. And this player, Lewis, reminds me a lot of an old time player who is now in coaching and moving up through the ranks pretty quickly- Mike Singletary. I could see him as a position coach or even a DC sometime down the line. And if he really is such a big fan, why not with us? With his leadership qualities, not too mention his thirst for blood (no-pun intended), I think he would make a great DC in this league down the line.

Ray wants a huge payday, thats it.

He knows Jones is the best case scenario for a mega deal.
yeah thats why ware said he talked to him 2 years prior to being a free agent about coming here

i guess he was trying to gain leverage 2 yrs in advance:rolleyes:

Yeah he looked like total crap the last two years playing in a 3-4 and pretty much being dominate.

But, yeah, keep holding onto that several year old idea that he can't play in the 3-4.

That has been proven wrong for a few years in a row now.

Didn't he win DPOY playing in a 3-4?

Terrell Owens was also capable of delivering more than two years at a high level. Ray Lewis will not be doing much of anything past 2011.

And you know this... how?

Even so, 3 years would be plenty. After that the window will likely be closed anyway.

isn't Ray Lewis' stated preference the 4-3?

I hope Jerry isn't getting fooled by this performance

Maybe so... but I think if Ray came to Dallas and a team known for being unable to get over that "hump" suddenly became a dominant defense and went on to win some playoff games (particularly if we won a super bowl)... endorsement deals would be lining up for the guy. I could see him doing a lot of different things if Dallas did indeed go on a deep run with him.

Like I said, we are pretty close to becoming a dominant defense already (with Phillips acting as defensive coordinator) and if Lewis is smart, he ought to know that we are one or two pieces away from playing championship defense. If he comes here and we suddenly start shutting offenses down, he's going to get more credit than he really deserves. Winning a playoff game would be, at least in part, credited to Ray being in Dallas.

Don't forget that he is likely very egotistical, like most athletes... and he probably does think that he could make a big difference in Dallas. He probably does think we will go far with him.

It would just be a very good situation for Lewis to be in... no matter if he got more endorsement deals or not. I do think those opportunities would be there for him though.

it wouldn't be for us if we bring him in for more than 12 mil guaranteed

Saw this on the bottom line earlier to day on ESPN...

It said that Ray Lewis said it was his dream to wear the star since he was a kid. Apparently he called DeMarcus Ware to get Jerry Jones' phone number.

That's all I really saw, but looks like he's out in Baltimore and Dallas is his top choice. Maybe it'll help us get him cheaper.

Just wondering..what aging FA that were/are "over the hill" were overpaid by the Cowboys? Why do people think we always do this? Zach was a one year deal that didn't do any damage to the cap and was a pressing need..who else??? thats what I thought...

Jerry does have a massive ego though

I'm just afraid Ray Ray will stroke it enough to get the money that he wants

Well, Ware will be signed, no doubt about it. After that, if JJ can't fit him under the cap, then he won't have a choice, no matter what Ray strokes.

He's a had a chance to do that before, but he didnt. What makes him do it this year?

I would like Lewis on this team though. If he REALLY wants to play here then give him incentives..see how much he really wants to play here.
