Agree and it irks me that the OL has to change to a man blocking scheme to fit McFadden's running style. Everyone else seems to be thriving in the zone scheme we used with Demarco. I'd take a whatever we can get (if anything). I wouldn't lose sleep if we lost Dunbar either but will admit I liked his flashes early last season as a receiver.

Nobody thought that about McFadden until he ran behind our OL. Murray ran over 1800 yards then went to Philly were he got benched.

That year Murray had over 900 yards "before" contact. Which means when we handed him the ball he got over 900 yards before he was touched. He was able to get another 900 plus after contact.........Mcfadden barely got over 200 yards after contact, that's not special or performing great neither is his 3 TDs on the year which Randle (playing in half as many games as Mcfadden) had more TDs then Mcfadden. He can be replaced. A rookie in Gurley had more yards and TDs then Mcfadden and missed entire games due to injury on a terrible offense with the Rams

But he isn't trash and Darius "CZ pet cat" Jackson hasn't shown enough to replace McFadden.
If Zeke or Morris get hurt and its 3rd down I would rather have McFadden protecting Dak or Tony's blind side than Jackson.

It's not about McFadden being superman. It's about his ability and experience giving enough value to not be thrown away for a rookie who hasn't shown anything special.

Anyone who would keep McFadden and let Jackson walk under the current scenario is not very bright. McFadden is under contract for 1 year. Jackson is under control for 4 years. Jackson costs pennies compared to McFadden. McFadden has not touched the field during camp. Jackson has practiced every day and played very well in games with 2nd and 3rd teamers. He has shown more than enough for any reasonable and knowledgeable football person to conclude that he has a bright future and is too athletic and talented to let walk. When th dust settles in a year or two and McFadden, Morris, and Dunbar are gone, it will be Zeke and Jackson providing the 1-2 punch for the ground game. Jackson is only going to get better and there is no telling how good he may become playing behind our starting OL. You simply don't let young talent walk out the door in favor of one more year of an aging vet.

You don't have to cut him. He can stay on the NFI as an insurance policy and be kept, cut, or traded when he is eligible to come off.

Yeah who would want a 22 year old rookie with 4 cheap years over a 29 year old, injury riddled has been for 4x the money

A team with SB aspirations, that need that vet experience.
A RB that has been healthy over the past 2 seasons. [this elbow was not from a football play, and can happen to anyone]
A RB that is proven in pass protection, which will be needed especially with 1. a rookie QB, 2. an injury prone QB, as in your theory he is, since you say DMC is.
Jackson is not that much cheaper than DMC, for what each brings to the game.

What has Jackson excactly done to prove he is worth keeping? Other than internet GM's wanting him on the team.

The team that needs to rely on the run game the most shouldn't even consider a trade. Was there any player, ANY PLAYER, last season that delivered better than McF? Players hitting the turf left and right and the "injury prone" one played better than anyone on the offense.

And then proceeded to get hurt - again - and miss all of training camp and the preseason. If we're going to talk about his history, we need to talk about all of it.

He had a great season last year, he really did. But he also reverted back to his troubling pattern of injury. And this one without even playing in a game.

As long as that bench includes an NFI designation and not counting against the 53-man roster, I'm good with it.

Jackson was a 6th round draft pick. We don't have so much invested in him that we cant cut him.
Btw...Jackson is currently averaging 3.8ypc. That isn't exactly playing very well.(save the 2nd team excuses)
There are plenty of Darius Jacksons around the league. Many of them will be released very shortly. I love how he is suddenly so amazing that anyone who dares to not share your man crush gets called not very bright. Since the FO is very bright then I guess the debate must be over. Jackson makes the team....

but wait.....Why are their reports that teams have called about McFadden and the FO turned the offers away?
Maybe the reports are inaccurate and it was multiple teams calling about Darius Jackson. After all, I would imagine the league is full of reasonable, knowledgeable football people who are very bright.

Not to mention he will be able to block far better than super rookie Zeke. With a backup or Romo that's always a plus.

Really? Because blocking is the one area I was highly disappointed in with McFadden last year after being raved about in Oakland.

Also, Zeke was standing people up in the Seattle game while they were sending blitzers. Zeke looks like he is fine in the blocking department.

McFadden shouldn't be on this roster. I don't care about those 3-4 good games he had last year. He hasn't even practiced yet this training camp. Bye McChicken Legs and get the lights on your way out!
