I suppose I qualify as a seasoned fan. The first game I recall in detail is the Ice Bowl. I revere Coach Landry. A letter from him is a prized possession.

But let us recall that the Cowboys drafted Duane Thomas knowing of his problems at West Texas State and acquired Lance Rental knowing of his problems at Minnesota. Joe Don Meredith was a noted partier. Walt Garrison writes that it was a Cowboys tradition to get each of the rookies drunk the night before a game. Thomas Henderson was a known draft risk. Harvey Martin had demons beyond those proven of Elliott. Pete Gent. Rafael Septien. John Niland. The Landry/Brandt/Schramm regime drafted Irvin. Craig Morton was no choirboy.

I do not romanticize the past. There were many problem players, and they were not all summarily cut.

Beyond all of this, one does not "punish" another for a crime of which there is no proof. And I can't fathom celebrating such an outcome. I simply cannot fathom it.

You sir knocked this one outta the park!

I think that this ongoing fued has been going on for a while. You can see how the league treats our team as they continue to get screwed by the league/ Goddell in the playoffs the last few years with questionable calls (the Dez catch, Brice Butler rule) and now with the no offensive holding for 20 straight quarters. Im beginning to hate what this league has become.

I think Jerry needs to be put in his place . And if that temporarily sets us back then it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to take if it helps us moving forward hopefully not taking as many risk on problem players . Jerry needs slapping down.

My greatest hope is Jerry could be suspended or forced to sell if he really gets out there because I have very little faith even with the talent Garrett has been assembling we will ever overcome Jerry.

I love Garrett. Without him I’d have no hope at all with Jerry.

:omg: bite yer tongue,,, infidel blasphemer! As the vocal besmirchment of GLORIOUS LEADER JJ will not be tolerated even in veiled jest ,,,

(By him buying the team, and ordaining himself general manager HE's the 'big daddy cowboy' and there's nothing dry farts of discontent gonna do about it other than pop-off about the longevity of their discontented 'fandom' o_O

( granted, his early trophies/rings have long since lost there luster of which he AND the rest of the league are well aware of,,, and I'm a little fuzzed up with @PJTHEDOORS in his sudden erect spined stance concerning GLORIOUS LEADER JJ:angry:)

True. While the overall average of suspended players hovers around 1% the Cowboys have been leading this category with a much higher percentage which I’ve been very outspoken and critical on.

The risk we’ve been taking on some of these problem athletes has IMO slowed our rebuilding or process especially on defense.

It’s one thing if a player becomes a problem but when you pursue them with a history of problems your inviting issues which has raised red flags in the NFL even receiving fines and I believe influenced the pursuit of suspending Elliot.

The NFL needs to send a message to teams, their owners, GM and HC that if you continue to pursue these type of athletes and harbor them we’re going to come down hard in an attempt to deter.

Well now! Ain't that just calling the kettle black, as this noble esteem of which you so hold in high regard as to the governing body of this NFL,,,SHEESE!
The simple amount of annual revenue/cash flow that's generated by this semiautonomous entity is and has been corrupted long before the salary CAP had been initiated,,, it's running at freebooter speed now, under the guise of professional image,,, give it a rest,,, this league's dirty from the ground up:rolleyes:

True but also worth noting is as soon as Duane Thomas and Hollywood Henderson’s drug consumption and Lance Rentzel incidents and personal conduct became public knowledge Landry released them all when there wasn’t any mandate by the NFL to discipline. That’s a huge difference.
