PFT: Reports: NFL Network, DirecTV pursuing Berman

I cannot stand chris berman or many of the "personalities" on ESPN. ESPN used to be great before all the hosts started making the highlights and/or segments more about themselves and getting attention than the players/game itself. It has become such a beating that i have completely stopped with ESPN. I suffer through monday night football and the complete cluster**** that they have turned that into just because i love football, but please no chris berman on NFLN. I really like rich eisen because he doesnt think it necessary to yell at audiences like some of the other people on ESPN.

Well said Chief.

I would like to know what happened to Berman. I always knew he hated the Cowboys but after we won more super bowls he just seemed different.

Look at the teams Dallas beat in the NFC title game and the Super Bowl those years, and you'll have your answer.

I liked Berman in the 1980s and some of the 1990s, but then something happened.

His witty, enthusiastic, love-of-the-game personality was overtaken by an overbearing, tired, pompous, smug, know-it-all personality.

The expiration date on Berman has expired.

I feel the same way. I hope that if he leaves, ESPN gets to keep all his extra footage he uses from interviews during his picks. Then maybe every time he talks about the Bucs I won't have to see him on the jolly roger, or "go chawrgers go". Oh, did Jack mckeown give you a cigar, well chris, let's see it every other freaking week. I don't have directv, and I doubt I'll ever get it. My Dad has it for Sunday ticket, and I go over there to see the games.

I was just thinking how NFLN does not show enough love towards Favre, 49ers and the Bills.

AND not enough hatred toward the Cowboys.....they can take care of it all in one signing....

If they are planning to replace Eisen with Berman they are flat-out nuts!

Just don't let him get on the pre-game and post game shows on NFL network. Please don't let him ruin any further the only pre-game and post game shows that I like to watch.

It would be a shame to have to stop watching NFLN.

I love NFLNetwork but there are pretty much 2 things that would make me stop watching.

1. New host Chris Berman
2. New motto "All Commanders, all the time."

thx

so this has to manually be done, ie there is no button that does the formatting?

they'd have to add that button to the toolbar to expose the functionality. likely a hack out there to do it, just low demand.

There is a video that isn't family friendly on youtube. Type in "chris berman crazy rant." Wow

I despise this guy, he isn't funny, and his tired lines get very very old. I want to hear "da rah dahs" one more time like I want a hole in the head.

Actually, I thought that rant was hilarious.

I don't know that I believe that Berman would want to give up covering baseball. I honestly believe he enjoys it more than football.

I would hope not! There's not enough Eisen there as it is now.

They have too many personalities on NFLN to give them all any significant time, let alone add Berman.

Please no. :(

I guess I'm in the minority. I actually like Berman. I'd rather listen to him than know it alls like Tony Siragusa & Dan Dierdorf (even though they have different duties than Berman).

if theyre different then why chose them for your comparison? must be because they are all fat white guys

Its obvious Eisen really doesn't like the Cowboys yet I still like him. That's saying something.
