In the wake of Monday night's epic game between the Bills and the Cowboys, plenty of folks are asking when and if Dallas safety Roy Williams will be suspended for violating the rule that his tackling style spawned.

Spite? How so?zrinkill;1698784 said:The only real problem I have with it is, that on the last 2 times I have seen him do it ...... it was unnecessary because the guy was going out of bounds.
I will admit that Roy has got to be smarter about this. It almost seems to me, that he is doing it now, out of spite.

That's entirely accurate, IMO, and he's not the only guy to think that way. When the rule was first instituted, I remember reading all the grumblings around the league by anonymous players saying they didn't care. If that was the only way to bring the guy down, then that's what they were going to do. Tackle the player and worry about the consequences later.zrinkill;1698812 said:Now remember I am Roy's biggest supporter on this board. And I think its a horrible rule ...... and does not hurt near as many people as Sacking the QB .....
But it seems to me, with Roy doing it in unnecessary situations, that he is saying "I dont care what the rule states ..... I am gonna tackle the way I want too"
Especially since every time he does it nowadays he gets up with a little smile on his face.
I wish they would get rid of the rule ..... its ridiculous.

The only reason the penalty is in the NFL is from one play...the Roy tackling Terrell play...that is the only reason...it was not in the NFL before that nor was the thought of even putting it in there. Its ridiculous to change the rules of the game based on ONE play. Typical NFL though.
