Pft- Shawne Without "supplements" Is Clearly A Different Guy

Holy Moly...it even made his goatee shrink. :laugh2:

I wonder if this blows up into a bigger story...or if this is a down year or his career he ends up as an average OLB

You could make the argument that he is closer to the camera and has his hands on his hips in the first photo, while further away and hands at the side in the other. If you measure his head and nose, they are bigger in the top one, which means he was in fact closer.

I'm glad you raised this point. We really don't know whether Merriman was in the same position in both pictures, had the same pose or whether he was the exact same distance from the camera in both pictures.

Having said that, it does seem that his level of play has decreased. I suspect steroids but I'll give him some time since many Chargers are complaining about the defensive scheme. But if he remains an average player, we'll know what's up. Players who tear up the league just don't suddenly decrease their production - I don't care what system they're in.

his head even shrunk!

It really did. I was reading a previous post and I have the pic in photoshop right now because I wanted to see how his head sizes compared to see if some of it was just a little bit of angle or whatever. Those picture are seriously pretty much spot on. I have his smaller picture laying on top of his bigger picture and then decreased the opacity. His eyes line up pretty much exactly.

Merriman's going down the exact same career path as Julius Peppers. Huge splash, busted for steroids then live off the reputation made as a roider.

I have it in photoshop right now too and his eyes are not spot on. I'll put some lines on it and post it.

Peppers was busted for ephedra. Not roids.

And it was during his rookie year.

And after that he went on to continued awesomeness.

So it's not really the same thing at all.

I was going to say the same thing :laugh2:

Was just reading through the pages so I wouldn't have a "repost."

*** happened to his facial hair... even that slimmed down - side affects? ;)

if you're going to make that, you should probably use something that cannot move.

your point was he could be at a different angel but at the same time his eyes could be all over the place.

I would the think the inside corners of the eyes would be pretty stationary.

So, I tried to match the eyes and ears - the top of the head is a bit off because of the way his head is tilted, maybe.

Superimposed

I would say it is very likely that his shoulders are hunched in the first. But that does not account for all of it, IMO.

It's always a "dietary supplement".

Has anyone who has ever been suspended under the steroid policy admitted to using steroids?

Two independent sources told ESPN.com that Peppers tested positive for either ephedrine or a derivative of the stimulant ephedra. The substance, typically absorbed through supplements, is on the league's list of banned substances. The NFL began testing for it this summer.

.... That's actually what it was in this case. Every side admitted it, but it's on the banned substance list so the suspension was deserving it just wasn't because of steroids. This isn't Raphael Palmero saying it was tainted vitamin B.

I was just pointing out that there are arguments about the validity of the photo. I definately think Roids played a big part in this.
