PFT: Stephen Jones on Micah Parsons' contract

Saturday before game 2 they'll lock him up
What scares me about this....how much damage was done that could have been avoided. In other words, suppose Parsons, like Lamb, take the position not to show up until a new deal is reached. He misses all OTAs and training camps with new coaches installing new schemes.

Yup, I agree. At one point Parsons will holdout. Especially with generational money on the line. New DC, positional coaches etc...
Just hope they don't wait for more leaves to fall and be aggressive in locking up their core guys. They know already the range the agent wants. Waiting till August isn't going to make it any cheaper.

ED Micah Parsons (DAL, 25)

Remaining Contract: 1 year, $24M

Parsons produced 12 sacks, 43 tackles, and 2 forced fumbles in just 13 games for the Cowboys last season and will enter a contract year in 2025 (fully guaranteed $24M 5th-year option salary). He’s been one of the games most productive edge defenders since stepping onto the field back in 2021, and should be of Dallas’ top priority signings this offseason.

The top numbers for edge defenders currently stand at: $34M APY, $122.5M GTD, though it should be noted (since the Cowboys tend to wait until the last minute with these things) that T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, Max Crosby, and Zach Allen are all contract extension candidates this offseason as well, which should continue to push this market even further.

Prediction: 4 years, $150M ($115M guaranteed)

FYI.......Bosa is the highest paid edge at $34m

Parsons is not an Edge
Hes a pretend edge
Best trade him to a 3-4 team

Exactly......100% confident Stephen knows right now how much it will take to sign him and that's not going to change. No matter how much he throws out the deadline close deals BS.

Extend him to a team friendly deal ASAP or trade him. It wouldn't be a bad idea to gauge what contract demands he has as well as potential trade partners. If you can get 3 1st that's an easy decision, but I'm not sure they would win any trad they make.

Per recent NFL history, the Mack trade should be the basis for any hypothetical trade.
Parsons + future day 2 pick + day 3 for 2 firsts + day 3 pick.

The two first round picks in the Mack trade turned out to be 24th overall and 19th overall.
I don't see much value in giving away Parsons, + a 2nd to get two first round picks back.
I'm not sure teams would be wanting to give away more assets and then re-sign him to a top deal-similar to what the Bears did with Mack.

Here is what we know........no way in hell Parsons will play the 2025 season under the current deal w/o a fight. The sooner Stephen Jones handles this ( only two options ...sign or trade ) the better.

Stephen Jones on Micah Parsons’ contract: Obviously, he is an important part of what we’re about

BREAKING NEWS: we piss Micah off and make him wait and he UNFOLLOWS US ON TWITTER LOL, we cave in and he gets a mega deal

 TWO options.......pay him or trade him
He's wired differently.......the same tactic and BS he used with Dak and Lambs' contract will not end well with Parsons. It will be a fight in public ...
He probably won't use the podcast to voice his displeasure

well, it will about 59 minutes before first game of the season before he gets signed, which means we have a built in excuse for not signing FAs over the summer and then blame the contracts.

awsome!
