PFT: Theisman trying to remain relevant... criticizes Quinn's draft appearance

I heard Theismann's comments, and I'll disagree with him to this extent: Quinn's appearance wasn't a job interview. The interviews had already taken place. Quinn's mistake was showing up at the draft in the first place, especially since he and his agent knew that slipping was a very real possibility.

Having said that, there's no way someone would be hired that showed up here for a job interview the way that Quinn was dressed.

That pinstriped number was obviously off the rack. Not a Brandini, Armani or even a marked down Brooks Bros.

But, ferchrissakes, he's just a kid.
Give him time and he'll be dressing like Regis Philbin.
Hey, why are we discussing suits?
Oh, it's the offseason.

I wouldn't be wearing a suit to begin with.

Nothing. Unless you are on stage with the CEO of your company in a suit and tie giving pictures. Would you go up there with a cigarrette?

Or maybe he should have quoted another QB and said "I'd like to kiss you...."

:laugh2: God Bless Broadway Joe
or "My girlfriend would like to kiss you". That would have gotten Suzy out of the green room.......maybe.

I would have cried seeing $17 million as estimated erased. So I think he did a good job of holding himself together...:laugh2:

I'm with you. I'd have excused myself before I made a scene.

Did he drop 17 mil going from 3 to 22? Wow. Only 3 million. Dayum. :D

Quinn did look like a beatnik, and as we all know ...

I knew it would not take long for the Commanders to start defending Theisman ....

In a way you have to think that Brady had to see it coming. I mean, come on, anyone who saw Brady play throughout his college career knows he's been overhyped for a while.

He is the QB for ND, the pretty boy, whatever. Of course the media loves him. As an avid hater of ND (not why I think Brady will be a bust, I just don't think he's that good a QB), I tune in to watch the games just to root against them. Brady Quinn was hyped up alot to give ND a face (at least one you can sell to the public, because face it, Weis is no eye catcher).

I find it very telling that 21 teams passed on a "top 3" player, especially at the QB position (which as we here in Dallas know, is not an easy position to fill). Look, I know theres alot of Brady Quinn apologists on this board (mostly because they are ND fans), but come on, you don't see me feverishly backing up Rodgers and Boller because they are Cal guys. Brady Quinn is not good.

And believe me, if in 5 years the kid is a top NFL QB, I will readily admit this. Im not a scout, so my oppinion really isnt worth ****. But come on, how many on here really think Brady is that good?

Actually it was 22 teams since we passed on him too.

It sure says alot about how the Cowboys brass feel about Romo ... that we passed on Quinn, doesn't it ?

Nope. It was 21.

Jacksonville passed on him twice.

Off season or not...this qualifies as news, worthy of print?:shoot6:

Joe Theismann...The REAL Mr. Irrelevent of the 2007 NFL Draft.

22 teams passed on Marino. Montana lasted to the 3rd rd. Brady to the 6th.
WHile Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Tim Couch, Jeff George, and many others were drafted in the top 10. Just because you are picked early, or drop, does not mean a whole lot.

Isnt Joe Theisman the guy who won the SB then asked a player on the losing team "what does it feel like to lose the SB"?.... only to go back the next year and then find out FIRST HAND on how it felt to lose?

That tell's me all I need to know about this loser.

He is NO ONE. Just another talking head- dumber then most, more annoying then just about anyone.

Teams passing on someone isn't always indicative of how good the player is. I'd wager that some of the teams who passed on Ware and Merriman wish they hadn't. Or a more obvious example, the Colston kid that NO drafted last year. Sometimes, every single team is just wrong about a player.

Quinn was kickin it with style! The dude did look *** good. I don't get it though, what a white guy spices it up a little and all of a sudden this is what happens? The league is literallly litered with "pimps" & "thugs" and not a word is ever said about them or their possible "professionalism". This is 2007, guy or a girl, BLACK OR WHITE, if you ain't looking good and trying to be your best, I'd be more apt to say there's questionable problems there then here.
