PFT: Troy Aikman calls out Jerry for a 30-year Super Bowl drought

No offense ment toward Troy but it seems Jerry lives rent free in his head and what concerns is it of his is he not part of the Dolphins organization. Just saying
He's a Cowboy and anyone who loves the Cowboys should point fingers at the One man who's responsible for our lack of success the last 30 years. Troy also said that Cowboy fans deserve better and we do.

Troy will always be a Cowboys legend and this team and the fans still matter to him. Yes he has a job to do in Miami but that does not erase his ties to this franchise and what the team and Aikman mean to each other.

And you know that how?
Search for Dale Hansen, Bob Sturm, Randy Galloway, Peter King, David Moore, Troy Aikman, etc about Jimmy having final say in all football matters. Sportswriters have mentioned this for decades. I’ve been following the Cowboys for 5+ decades and I’m not a casual fan.

Bob Sturm article:

He is the ultimate “Dress-Up General Manager” - "He has insisted on playing dress-up and claiming the most important role in any organization – the General Manager – without ever actually fulfilling the role by doing its duties, and more bothersome, never once wavering by giving the role up.

"But the notion that he could take over as owner of the Cowboys and also take over as the GM and replace Tex Schramm was a bad plan in 1989 and a worse plan every year since Jimmy Johnson left (Johnson had, in his contract, full control of personnel moves for his tenure, but of course, no head coach has had that since).

To claim the title suggests that you cannot find anyone more qualified than yourself. Again, he isn’t the first man to suffer from extreme hubris because his bank account allowed it, but at what point of a football team failing would a man seek help?"

"That is completely a bunch of crock," Johnson said. "You notice Jerry started putting all those titles on himself after I left. He didn't call himself general manager and president and all that stuff when I was there; he was the owner. Because it was in my contract that I had total responsibility for all football decisions; it was in my contract. He didn't allow anybody to have that in the contract after I left."

Stop man. In 30 years Jerry has a regular season winning percentage of 53%. A 5 and 13 playoff record and missed the playoffs 17 times. He is, has been, and will continue to be the problem. Even a terrible orgaization that practices under a freeway over pass with the chespest owner in sports made the SB and could have won in the lsst 5 years....the Bengals. You must be on the payroll. Jerry's record gets you fired 6 to 10 times in that time frame anywhere else.
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic…

Jerry and Stephan and the entire Jones family have to be removed from all football operation decisions before any fundamental changes can be felt. That has never been in Jerry's DNA and very unlikely Stephan will be any different, so there's zero chance this will happen. Even the shame of a 30 year drought is not enough to move Jerry's hand. He bought the team so he could play fantasy football with it and be a rock star constantly signing autographs, sexually harass women, be the face of the franchise, get interviewed every 3 hours, and make the head coach and coordinators always pay the price for his shortcomings as the GM, the final say in all football matters.

Then how did we win three trophies? Jimmy. Jimmy had the last word in all football matters and his roster won three three Super Bowls.

I like your post. No lies told. I disagree a little with giving Jimmy ALL the credit for the 3 Superbowl wins. Like I've said before, if it was all Jimmy's doing, then he could have done the same thing in Miami, but he didn't.

I give Jerry and Jimmy equal credit for those Superbowl wins and technically, Jerry won a Superbowl after Jimmy left, Jimmy didn't. The last Superbowl win wasn't fully an identical roster to what Jimmy left behind and they still had to be coached to another Superbowl.
