the college overtime rules suck.

Ditto! Nothing but glorified scrimmages.

Win the game in the first 60 minutes, so you don't have to ***** about the FGs.

Playing during the NFL and College Seasons and trying to compete with the NFL, if that is indeed their goal, is going to have them out of business very quickly.

Also there are clearly more than 1700 guys who can play football. That's why there are loads of college teams with loads of players.

However that's also why there are loads of college teams who aren't any good and don't compete, regularly, for the national title because they're filled with a bunch of guys who aren't skilled enough to compete with the best of the best.

Then those guys are whittled down to the very best, of the best, when it comes to playing pro ball.

There are way more than 1700 people each year who can play football, there just aren't many more than 1700 who can actually play NFL level ball.

They can change all the rules they like.

Nobody (or at least not enough people) are going to watch it anyway.

Then whats college football's excuse? On average there is probably about a player per team that has any shot of making the NFL yet people flock in droves to watch it. I would hope to think that there are more than 1700 people in the whole world that are any good at football.

The UFL is being admisterated by a guy that was an exec a Google when it was becoming the powerhouse that it is today, the teams are being coached by guys like Fassel, Green and Haslett and have a salary cap allotment is $20 mil per year per team.

This is even before you consider that NFL CBA strife is on the horizon and UFL might be all you have a season coming down the pipe.

College football doesn't compete with the NFL. They play on Saturdays while the NFL has Sunday and Monday for the most part. College is "amateur" and feeds into the NFL. Plus college football is also about the experience and passion in addition to being about the game of football. College football has a long, rich tradition that goes back to a time before the NFL was even around.

UFL games will be on Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Its funny you guys are bashing it when you don't know anything about it.

You guys go ahead and watch Survivor and CSI:Miami. I'll watch some football.

Even the very best teams like USC and OSU only have a half dozen players that have a shot at the NFL yet many of the games are a lot of fun to watch. I could give a damn about the history of USC or OSU.

The overall talent level on these teams is going to be better than college especially when you consider theyre going to be offering players two million a year. The UFL will get players off of NFL rosters. They already have coaches from the NFL.

I did know they were going to be on different nights. Competing against the NFL is not only about showing games head to head. It is trying to get the same players. College football is not trying to steal players from the NFL. They have their players with some of them eventually going to the NFL.

I think some people will watch it, but it will never pull the numbers it needs to compete or threaten the NFL. Again, I think that is fine as long as that is all they really want. If they truly think they can compete with the NFL they are kidding themselves.

Plus I don't watch either of those shows you mentioned. I also don't see where I was bashing them. Just stating my opinion.

I used the term bashing in a general sense it wasn't directed towards you. I also think its unfair to characterize offering better contracts than what some NFL players receive as stealing.

If a Sam Hurd or Keith Davis wants to start for a team coached by Jim Fassel and make $2 mil then more power to them. If Manuel Johnson or Danny Amendola would rather be guaranteed playing time and a salary rather than worry about cut day then more power to them. Heck if Amendola went over half this board would watch.
