Since Dallas asked permission, could it be that they are interviewing him for the DC position instead?

Would he take it - since his roots are in TExas anyway?

My question is why not Rex Ryan instead of Phillips? He is younger and runs the 3-4 just like Phillips. Wade may have more knowledge but Ryan is alot younger and could go 5+ years. Wade is 60 , being a HC is alot more work than DC.

I believe Rex is 45.

I'm sure it's a combination of the fact that Jones is familiar with Phillips, and that Wade's nearing the end of his coachng career and can make way for Garrett at whatever point without hurting his future prospects and blunting his career.
