Maybe but I have a feeling Dak's deal is much closer to getting done than many realize, even before Wentz signing this week.

News of Carson Wentz‘s new contract in Philadelphia raised immediate questions regarding the contract eventually to be given to Rams quarterback Jared Goff, who was taken one spot in front of Wentz in the 2016 draft. But Wentz’s deal has more immediate relevance to a quarterback drafted far later than the first two selections.

The Cowboys selected Dak Prescott with the 135th pick in the 2016 draft, behind Goff, Wentz, Paxton Lynch(No. 26), Christian Hackenberg (No. 51), Jacoby Brissett (No. 91), Cody Kessler (No. 93), and Connor Cook (No. 100)

If he wins, he can have all of that and more. If takes more money and they can’t build around him than he might not get this endorsement deals. That is something Dak needs to consider also.

See what you're saying, even agree somewhat but that's asking a player to look 8-10 years down the road. However, I do see Dak doing a team friendly deal but not what many fans see as team friendly meaning less value money. I can see him doing a team structured friendly contract that gives them lots of wiggle room to adjust his deal for other signings.

You guys are right. I can see where the FO wants a team friendly deal but I can also see Dak thinking he can get hurt any time. I just hope it is a fair deal for both sides.

Right if you are good. Quincy Carter never got deals because he wasnt good. Dak has put in the work and is good which is why he deserves his money with no discount. If he decides to take a discount then that is on him.

Dak has proven himself and deserves a nice contract. He’s earned it with his excellent play the last 3 years. The Philly front office outmaneuvered us by signing Wentz early. Dak’s price continues to go up the longer we wait.

Perhaps we need to consider the possibility that paying Dak 25 Mil a season isn't a "Team Friendly" deal. Perhaps that's what he's actually worth, in terms of what teams will pay for him. If the Cowboys want to pay less than what Wentz got, I tend to believe that would be a position that most in NFL league offices would take. That's not to say he needs to be lowballed but I don't think it's crazy to think the Cowboys value him less than Wentz in terms of contract size.

How about a team friendly deal in the range of what Wentz got. But a shorter term deal or a deal with options to to redo the contract in 3 years.
Or a cap / team friendly deal with many incentives, but each can opt out and renegotiate after 3 years.

Basically take less now in the range of Wentz, but prove yourself and in 3 years get a bigger deal and be rewarded even better.

Wentz isn't making that money until his rookie contract expires which means moving forward he's only averaging about 25 million a year, not 32. This does not complicate Dak's negotiations for a new deal.

That's true of just about any QB. If Wentz loses his weapons he won't look as good. Yet he got paid without all this brouhaha.
