Vick is one of the most overrated players of the past decade.

I'm sorry but you put the ball in the hands of a guy and he runs for over 1000 yards on about 120 carries and it is super exciting. He certainly wasn't a great passer but you factor in what he did with his feet and you had a guy who was always fun to watch.

That said, he's never going to get it back. You simply do not take two years off in this league and come back any good.

Vick has never impressed at reading defenses. It has always been his major drawback and the one thing IMO, that has stopped him from becoming a true difference maker.

Now that his athleticism is beginning to wane a little, he should be even less effective

I honestly think Kolb will be a very solid guy for Philly.

I think actually he read Ds a lot better than he got credit for. A guy who is really bad at reading a D will tend to throw a ton of picks ... that was never really Vick's problem. You could even argue that he did read Ds well enough to know he could pull the ball down and run for a first (or more). He was just a brutally inaccurate passer ... but that is something you'll see from a guy whose 2nd read is "scramble"

I think the reason he scrambled is because he didn't read defenses and therefore was unable to stick to the game plan and take advantage of what the defense allowed. Instead he always resorted to what he was always good at, running.

That's the very reason he is (or was) overrated. Being exciting and getting 1000 yards is great if you are a rb. But he is a qb, where your job in the nfl is to throw it to the other guys for 4,000 yards.

Ummm, the gameplan obvious involved him running his *** off. What kind of dumb *** coach would plan something different. He's Mike ************* Vick for god sakes.

No, your job is the yards. Pass or run, it doesn't matter. When a QB is breaking off an 8+ yard per carry average, he's doing something good. Had Vick been able to develop just a bit more accuracy, he'd have been very special.

I think in his prime Vick was one of the most athletics guys in the league but I think to be a pro QB you have got to be able to make the right reads and accurate throws. In college QB's running is just part of the game in the NFL running QB's do not last long.

Must be the same people who swore up and down that Scandrick was better than Jenkins.

Felix wasn’t even the main guy in college and that guy has been terrible in the NFL. Jones is an explosive player, but he is not a one man show. Plus he has yet to prove he can stay healthy. All 3 need to get carries, equally, IMHO.

Why the need to bring up the Scan vs Jenkins thing? Scandrick was great in training camp..hence why the Cowboy coaching staff couldn’t make up their minds on who to start, and they get paid a lot of money to evaluate. Who exacly saw that Jenkins would become the 1# corner the Cowboys would have last season? You did?

• The Steelers aren't lacking for options at center, even with Justin Hartwig coming back from shoulder surgery. Doug Legursky, whom the Steelers released twice earlier in his career, has worked with the first team and has drawn praise from head coach Mike Tomlin. Rookie Maurkice Pouncey, the club's first-round pick, could factor at right guard or center. The Steelers have even given second-year OG Kraig Urbik some work at center, too. Hartwig, 31, has started all 32 games at center for Pittsburgh in the last two seasons.

I think the Cowboys should seriously consider bringing whoever ultimately loses out at the center position in Pittsburgh. They won't keep them all, and we need a backup at center because we are hooped if Gurode gets hurt.

But will Vick WANT to come in if the fans start booing?
However, I don't think the coaching staff wants a QB controversy. They will use Vick in an emergency for maybe a wildcat play or two but that is all.

but lets say the right read is a dump off to your RB or something ... or throwing the ball away. If you are a great runner then you can probably get more out of the play by taking off. So running isn't necessarily the wrong read. In his last season as a starter Vick ran for 55 first downs (almost half his runs). So that really needs to be factored into his efficiency

The guy certainly was not a polished passer ... but he was still developing as an NFL QB. Of course, 2 years off is going to kill any development potential
