We have Colombo through 2008. He could have bolted for greener pastures this year but chose to stay with the Boys to show thanks for the opportunity we gave him when we pulled him off the slag heap. Of course after next season we will have to cough up the bucks to keep him but that is a next year problem. As for Kosier we have him for another 2 years (or is it three?). He came here on a 5 year deal. Neither of those guys are an immediate problem.

Our only immediate concern at OL is Flo and we have to determine if McQ is ready to take that spot. I don't want to have to count on Free with his injury history in college and in TC this year so I'm thinking we need to get Flo re-signed if we can get him on a two or three year deal.

Julius is history with the other priorities that we have and I don't see Thompson sticking around next year either. Therefore I think we make Barber a priority and try to bolster the position in the draft...maybe as high as the 2nd or 3rd round.

I just don't see us letting Canty go. He has been a bargain for us and we will pony up the cash to keep him around. I just don't see it any other way.

Crayton is just too valuable to us to let him walk. He is a proven player now and it will cost us some money to keep him but I think he will get Terry Glenn's money next year and Glenn will be gone. WR is another position that I see us trying to bolster in the draft...probably with one of our 1st round picks with an eye to the future.

We will likely make the play to keep Reeves. He did a good job filling in for both Newman and Henry and with them both getting older and Henry's injury history we will need a proven backup and 3rd CB. We may let Nate Jones go and try to plan for the future with a 1st round CB in the draft.

I highly doubt that we will let Adams go, I have the feeling he will resign at a modest amount for 3 or 4 years with the contract being frontloaded and dump him after two years. Adams is too good of a LT to let walk away for nothing, even if he is sometime frustrating and whatnot.

The other players who I feel probably wont be back include, Glenn, J. Jones, N. Jones, Ferguson, Thompson and Reeves. Although I would like to see Fergi and Reeves stay, I bet we wont feel like overpaying for Fergi to play in a rotation with Tank and Reeves will command alot of money in FA.

I really believe that this draft will be very exciting because we wont be wheeling and dealing for DMac or Long or Desean Jackson. I feel that with 4 picks in the first 3 rounds we will select a CB, WR, RB and either a Olineman or Dlineman.

Franchising Addams would seem to be the way. Then you can look to see if any of the young guys step up. And if they do, you could then trade Addams to team that feels they are just 'a tackle away'.... Flozell is at the 'Rivera' stage of his career: major injuries start happening that seriously effect the player. But he is valuable enough to take the step of franchising him, especially since the Cowboys appear to be in the sweet spot in making playoff runs.

I also think that we keep Fergie. For at least another year, for sorta the same reason. I expect that the Fergie/Tank rotation would be seriously good. And we need Ratliff to start at DE anyway.

Crayton will depend on negotiations, and his percieved value. Some other team might make him an offer he couldn't refuse, though I bet he'd like to stay. And he is very much one of the guys Romo looks for on 3rd downs, or when the play breaks down.

Barber probably gets a new deal. He walks the walk, and he's another good face for the franchise.

Some of the guys are going to go though. Financial reasons, if nothing else. Guys from the practice squad stepping up, etc. I expect the Joneses to be gone, Glenn as well. Maybe Reeves too, especially if either of this year's drafted DBs turn out to be decent, and good at special teams as well.

I agree with most of what you are saying; especially the part about Flo and a front loaded deal that we can dump in a couple of years sounds about right.

I'm not so sure that we let Fergi go though. He will likely play out his contract and I think we have him for at least 1 more year. I would have to have better numbers on his contract but unless there is something funny about it I think he stays. There's no reason to dump him unless there is a big escalator in his salary and the Jones are not bad about putting in those kinds of clauses.

Hope we can hold onto Reeves but he might be too expensive. But Henry is just too injury prone not to have a solid backup IMO.

No way do we give Adams the exclusive rights franchise tag... not at $11 or $12 mil a year. It won't happen.

Adams wont be at the Rivera stage until he suffers a debilitating back injury.

Like i said John Runyan was signed by the Eagles for 3 years at the age of 33.

There's no reason to give him the exclusive tag. If someone wanted to forfeit two first-round picks for him, Jerry and Wade would help Flozell pack his bags.

I expect Crayton to sign a short term extension. He's not stupid. He has to realize that teams pay for numbers and he doesn't have numbers yet to command big bucks. His best chance of hitting the FA lottery is extending his stay in Dallas for a few more years because that's where he's going to post the best numbers.

Adams had to look at the numbers Dockery, Davis and others got. He's not going to settle for less than 50 million somewhere and I doubt that's in Dallas. Wouldn't really bother me much to see him leave though. Romo makes this line and every player on it look much better than they are. One of the few QBs who can play behind a crappy line.

Reeves is the player who has made the most money this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a contract that makes fans here scream expletives. He's going to get paid in a large way.

Of the RFAs, Barber will be tendered high and if someone wants him for a 1st and 3rd, I'd let him go. Quality back but those are a dime a dozen. RBs the easiest position to replace in football. No one will give anything up for Canty, 3-4 DEs aren't in demand and no one's going to pay big bucks for someone with his career sack totals.
