We hear the Niners think OT Damane Duckett, who was activated late in the season off the practice squad when both Dallas and Denver expressed an interest in his services, could be a keeper. A former defensive lineman who made the conversion to offensive tackle in training camp, Duckett has the size (6-6, 318), athleticism and defensive mentality that make him very intriguing.

A source close to Cowboys RB Marion Barber told PFW that there has been dialogue with the team about getting a new contract done. Barber, the Pro Bowl player who is due to be a restricted free agent, almost certainly would be tendered at the first- and third-round level if the two sides could not come together. The Cowboys just got a four-year, $14 million deal done with WR Patrick Crayton.

C'mon Barber, resign!

I want to be able to wear my Barber jersey for years to come.

I agree with you.....should be a priority

Yep... PRIORITY.

You dont let an impact player like Barber go.
He wont break the bank even if he gets a great deal from us.

The guy gets chunks of TOUGH yards.
The guy puts points up on the board.

Enough said. Where does he sign?

Promise him he will be the featured RB in 2008. Do not use a day 1 pick on a RB unless it is 3rd round on WVU FB Owen Schmitt and that is to open holes for the Barberian.

I agree with everything you said, Owen and Barber in the backfield would eat people alive. However, what happens to Deon Anderson in that case, I really like the guy.

Frankly, I'm shocked the "trade the world for Darren McFadden" people haven't died out by now.

I played FB. No one loves FBs more than me.

Owen Schmitt would be an upgrade, IMO. I never fail to upgrade if there is a prime chance no matter how loyal I am to a player and believe me I love Cricket. He'd still be a part of this team.

So then Hyote goes, you can't possibly keep 3 FB's.

If we don't grab Owen, I'd like to see us draft a backup to Barber in the 3rd, or maybe even 2nd if we take a WR and CB in the 1st.

If Rice falls to us w/ our 2nd 1st, do you not pull the trigger?

I'll admit it, it would be very hard for me to pass on him or Stewart from Oregon. It would depend on what we took with Cleveland's pick and who else is available with ours. If another position of greater need is there for us I could pass on Rice. It would be hard on me though.

i think mb3 will get done after the season when we have more money to throw at him. we don't have alot of money left right so it would have to be a very creative deal to get it doen noe. i do think mb3 is going nowhere'
if you want a fb, which i don't think we need that bad with anderson, then go after hillis form arkansas. he has fantastic hands and is a good blocker. he is a better reciever than most t.e.'s are.

I believe we have plenty of cap room.
