I don't want a man coverage safety. I want a guy that can cover a lot of ground very quickly, but better yet has the instincts to know where to go -- someone who plays well with his face to the QB. In my opinion, Henry to FS made way too much sense, which is probably why it didn't happen.

All these guys in these tiers have speed, cover well, tackle well, yada. Some are just better at certain small areas. Some project well to cover while others man and press.

S need to be able to play cover2 and variants as well as heads up. CBs the same with the Ss doing more physical things esp in the box and at the LOS. They also need to come up and shedd blockers, disengage, use their hands, tackle well, clip big TEs and cover them man to man. Everyone has niches they excell in and others they need work on. There are plenty of DBs who meet are needs to be able to play many coverages, as well as types of WRs/TEs/RBs.

There really are DB throuout the draft. If they do their homework we should pick up a diamond in the rough in the lower rounds.

Give the Usama kid a shot. He'd need a year or two to develop, and we've got the time.

I just want our first 2 rounders to be starting either this year or next. There's a very good chance a corner or safety won't have a spot on the team for another 3-4 years. Just seems like a waste.

Michael Griffin could be a good pickup in the 2nd rd and one thing I have seen that has not been mentioned is the kids ability to block punts, the guy has a real good knack at getting to the ball with 6 blocks at Texas

Usama needs to get much stronger. He has enough holes in his game to not be picked higher than the 6-7th. But he's rising. I think there are lot of CBs available in the lower rounds with good measurables and holes in their game though.

Only a DB in the 1-2 round will have a chance to start or contribute a lot this year. We won't get a pass rusher with our first two picks that are predicted to be immediate starters. Staley might be able to start for us and could be available. He wouldn't start at tackle for us unless there was an injury. If Meachum is available he could probably be the third WR. If Willis was available he might start at ILB. Revis or Nelson/Meriweather would have the best chance to start. There are other DBs as well who might have a chance. We are a solid team barring injury. It may not be fair to expect a #1 or #2 to start this year.

If Jerry came out and said that Henry was moving to safetey, then it would be to obvious what our greatest need would be, CB.

I think depending on who we get in the draft, it still could be a possibility, although I have concerns about his ability to hold up physically at safety.

I wish the reports on Griffen weren't so diverse, can he cover or not? If he has the ability to play FS & SS then he could give us a lot of the same flexibility that Woodson gave us.

Merriweather is the best fit IMO, due to his ability to play FS & CB and the fact that he has great ball skills & likes to hit, I think he has the highest upside of the top safeties. Unfortunately he may also have the highest downside, if he has his priorities right I like him for safety.

the main fear is that a wife not used to the nfl before marriage is going to be a major distraction, not liking him gone alot, not liking all the time in camps and study and weight rooms and practice necessary to be a player in the nfl, causing a lot of stress on the player trying to keep the spouse happy and live up to team expectations, the odds go way up that there will be a lack of the commitment necessary to succeed in this league..........

"Jones said he wants a success rate of at least 70 percent. He wants his first day picks challenging for starting spots."
This makes me think WR is not on the 1st day list, unless you consider 3rd WR a starting spot.

I mean, did these guys watch Branch play?

He was everywhere on the football field.

I just don't get it. I don't watch a lot of college football, but I do watch Michigan and he was dominant.

If they can handle college and college football, I don't see why they can't handle the NFL. I know some of these kids don't do a lot of schollwork but the idea that they can play college football, and the time required for that, along with their studies and not be ready for the time committments of the NFL seems a bit odd to me.

Not only now would their wife not have to work, thus getting more time together, the stresses that come along with being married in college would dissapate with their first contract a bit.

I almost can't believe that comment on Carriker. Why would being married be such a detriment to a player?
Must be the Jimmy Johnson school of thought.
