How can a rookie class in their first year be a bust? This is the stupidest thing I've read in 2 hours.

....he might make Folk expendable next year.

I seriously doubt that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but was Buehler wasn't even accurate enough to kick field goals in college?

He's a great asset but he's no replacement for the Folk Hero.

Buehler got the job by default. Their kicker died. He WAS their FG kicker.

The rookie class hasn't done much so far to be sure.

But so what....

You don't judge drafts based on rookie performance. In 3 years we'll see where we are.

Right now Dallas has found some good elements with Buehler leading the league in touchbacks, Butler being very good on special teams and Ogletree earning not only a roster spot but getting WR burn. Would it be nice to have Hodge, Brewster and Brandon Williams all healthy? Of course. Does them missing what would have been spot playing time as rookies make a big difference in their career? Probably not.

This team really did well in free agency with Olshansky, Brooking and Sensabaugh. Those guys are all A+ moves it does appear. It also appears letting Burnett, Zach, Canty and RW31 walk were the 100% correct calls.

Really hard for a team to see it's free agency class and rookie classes both be great. Only so many bodies can play. The stepping forward of Mike Jenkins and Miles Austin added to the free agents and this team isn't nearly what it was last year and that means this rookie class can afford to ride pine.

So all of a sudden it's news that last spring's draft was a dud?

That bad draft will come back to haunt Jerra.
On the other hand, the emergence of Austin, jenkins, Romo etc., many who we never expected to be big time players, can offset it a bit.

I have is about Victor Butler not being used enough.

I think they need to give him more snaps, especially on obvious passing downs.
who do you take out to put him in? Spencer is the obvious answer but then are you willing to say Spencer, a former 1st rounder in his first season as a starter, is only a two down player?

Had we had a 1st and a second round pick and those guys had no contribution, I may listen to you. But geesh.

The article seems to imply bust because of number of starts, but that is not always an accurate assessment. Depth and special teams contributions are what this draft was all about, and so far, our special teams have greatly improved over last year.

The most impressive draft pick has been kickoff specialist David Buehler, who is on pace to shatter the team's season record for touchbacks and also plays on coverage teams. But other than that, the class is a bust.

Anybody who judges a draft class halfway through the first season after that draft is pretty much an idiot...

Some of my fellow cowboy brothers are sooooo sensitive.

The writer didn't call anyone a bust.

Uhhh, yeah, he did... he called the class as a group a "bust"... go back and reread the initial post, paying particular attention to this line:

"But other than that, the class is a bust."

Jerry deserves some credit for the 08 draft but he pissssed away the 09 draft class.

I've no wish to be insulting, but I'll have to point you to the comment I made in my last post in this thread...

The writer didn't call anyone a bust. He said they weren't getting it done nor showing much promise. It's hard to argue with that, isn't it?

Compare this to last year when we had about five rookies that made major contributions.

Jerry deserves some credit for the 08 draft but he pissssed away the 09 draft class. We'll be lucky if we get three or four guys who contribute meaningfully. Which of these guys starts and when? Maybe one of the linebackers when Brookings retires.

I'd have to disagree with just about everything in this post.
