Whispers — NFC East
Giants might have interest in Ocho Cinco at right price — maybe

Chad Ocho Cinco
to the Giants? Hang on a minute. Yes, rumors have floated that the Giants might be interested in adding a receiver, especially given Plaxico Burress’ legal situation and the fact that Amani Toomer is a free agent and not likely to be back. But as much as GM Jerry Reese likes talent, we hear there might be some people in the organization who would oppose the move, given Ocho Cinco’s histrionics and the potential clash it might cause with the businesslike atmosphere head coach Tom Coughlin has worked hard to establish. That said, the Giants would be buying low. Ocho Cinco is coming off his worst season since becoming a star, and the Bengals are said to be willing to move him at a friendly price.

The Cowboys had to be glad to hear that QB Tony Romo plans to be a better leader next season. The criticism that has come down on Romo, which some have said caused a lack of respect for offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, appears to be somewhat legitimate. But we hear Garrett was lax toward other players, as well, for not working hard enough, thereby appearing to give different players different sets of rules depending on who they were.

Eagles FS Brian Dawkins might be 35 years old, but his strong finish to the season and his desire to return to Philadelphia make it a strong likelihood he’ll be back. The Eagles probably would like to sign the free-agent-to-be to a one-year deal but might be willing to offer Dawkins two years. The team does not believe Quintin Demps, drafted as a possible long-term replacement for Dawkins, is ready to take over in that role.

If that's true, so what.

Jimmy and Parcells didn't treat all players alike.

Coaches are going to have favorites. Period.

This "No Child Left Behind" mentality is a joke.

Honestly, I didn't know what to put as a thread title, but that was as close as I could get to the blurb.

Isn't that the way TO wants it? Isn't that the way Jerry wants it?

And Jimmy was very public in admitting it too.

Jimmy Johnson was at a seminar I attended once. He said he told the players, "I will be very consistent and treat you all differently."

He cut a player for sleeping in a film session. he said if Troy had fallen asleep in a film session he'd have wanted someone to get Troy a pillow.

I'm sick and tired of all of this 'no' news being reported as news. All coaches do this. The only difference I could see would be the fear factor. Does Red have enough to put the fear of God into our players?

Is this honestly news? I don't think so.

I don't think that there is a coach in the NFL that treats every player the "same".

you have to wonder how much of that is cause of Jerry babying his superstars. Even if he did hold everyone to the same standard they'd probably just go cry to Jerry about it and he would step inn, guess we'll never know but,.. :bang2:

As long as he's treating certain players differently due to the fact that they're stars on the field, not just due to personal preferences. That's where I think it could get "hairy". Like Jimmy has stated many times over the years, he was "consistent" with it. He had a reason for doing it, they earned it. And if players who aren't earning better treatment are getting it just because Jason doesn't like you or does like you, that could be a problem.

When you win, no one cares. When you don't, they eat it up. I've said it a thousand times this offseason, all of this mess is just the result of losing, not the cause.

As a coach, albeit not at this level of comp., I've come to realize that you have to treat players different because they respond differently to types of coaching and discipline.

Some players respond to being challenged( ie: Come one man what the hell was that. What are you thinking? Get your *** in gear.) While some you have to say( hey man you can do this. I believe in you).

I was going to post about that. Jimmah, who has a degree in industrial psychology, used that method every where he coached.

I play favourites with clients, some get calls faster than others, when I teach at night, I sometimes play favourites, usually better looking chicks get cut slack, hell even my modelesque secretary probably gets away with more than most because she's hot and I like her. Thus is the world made.
