Jimmy Johnson was at a seminar I attended once. He said he told the players, "I will be very consistent and treat you all differently."

He cut a player for sleeping in a film session. he said if Troy had fallen asleep in a film session he'd have wanted someone to get Troy a pillow.

:laugh2:

Love that coach!

Salud to you, Coach Jimma!
Superior coach in Cowboys history.
And he could have had a third ring and then WILLed his team to win a fouth, I firmly believe.

I've NEVER been a Red apologist: far from it, but one thing JJ always said during his run here with the Cowboys: OF COURSE the triplets and Woody and Norton JR. and Haley got treated differently. They were SUPERSTARS for crissakes. This isn't Jr. High...what a DUMB article.

Jimmy Johnson had a legacy before he came to Dallas... Jason Garrett coached the likes of Joey Harrington for 2 years at Miami...

Let's cut this crap right now. How Jason Garrett favors players is different from how Jimmy Johnson did it. Garrett wrongly cuts too much slack for "name" players who have "more" talent, whether they translated it to on-field production or not.

Jimmy Johnson was never tht lax or gullible.

Sure Jimmy Johnson treated players differently: he cut a lot of slack for those who produced and did so consistently . For those who did not, he turned on the burners and said "if you want me to turn down the heat, start producing consistently, like those guys over there". And once a consistent player became less consistent and less productive, Jimmy Johnson would immediately turn the heat up on him. I remeber a time early in Emmitt's carreer where Emmitt had fumbled ome more time than it pleased Jimmy, and Jimmy really took him to task on it. Emiitt quckly retooled his game because Jimmy Johnson commanded the kind of authority that Garrett does not.

Unlike Garrett who gets controlled by his players, Jimmy Johnson was in total control of his players -- especially in how he controlled the whole roster by treating players differnetly.

Huh? Jimmy was a "college coach", the league was laughing at Jerry and Jimmy in the beginning. Veteran Cowboys players butted heads with Jimmy and were traded off. (DeOssie, Walls)

He was a college coach that won a national championship at Miami. Jimmy had experience coaching a whole team. The league laughed at them because they were stupid, not because Jimmy Johnson didn't have a legacy. In the case of Garrett, the clown had 2 years coaching experience before becoming OC of the Cowboys, and even then, he wasn't successful. He coached the QBs at Miami, and Joey Harrington was one of them, the other being a 10 plus year veteran, Gus Frerotte, whom I'm sure didn't really take anything from Garrett, that his multiple years experience already taught him.Further, the hypocrisy is quite laughable. ALl the Garrett supporters are now defending Garrett and his practice routines, when prior to this, they were talking about how this team didn't practice hard and took it as a joke, and this is the reason they stunk it up and were inconsistent. Prior to this 'revelation, it was all Wade's fault for not practicing hard. Now, suddenly... Oh, Garrett is doing what the likes of Jimmy Johnson did and it is a product of being a great coach.
