Good question

I think rookies should have to prove themselves BEFORE they get the large contract.
to bad that's not how it works

That day is coming, and when it does the madness can end.

So you give even a bigger contract to a rookie who has never played a down in the NFL.

And said rookie did not even carry the full load in college.

His backup got enough carries to be considered a mid first round pick.
he carried the ball 20-30 carries a game which is considered carrying the load as a rb.

McFadden averaged 25 carries a game and Felix averaged 10 carries a game. The Razorbacks just ran all the time, thats all.

And as for Felix being a first round pick, well, if you want to draft him in the first round after averaging 10 for his college career, go ahead. I wouldn't.

Canty already plays DE, maybe you are thinking of Ratliff.

My bad, got Canty and Ratliff mixed up.

I bet Canty gets extended after the draft, hopefully.

Even though Felix Jones only had 10 carries per game, he is still universally graded as a late 1st, early 2nd by almost every legit draft publication and I would suspect most teams in the NFL as well.

I promisie you Felix Jones will be drafted in the 2nd round at the latest. He still is a heck of a back himself.:)

Yes, well I do believe he should be drafted in the 2nd round, guess I kinda help start that here, oh well. BTW, some have him in the second round and some have him in the first, they can be wrong and have been before. Kinda interesting that most mocks that have him going in the first is only to us or maybe GB, and I believe if we don't pick him, he will probably fall to the second round. Not a good thing.

If we draft a RB in the first round, it needs to be one with every down feature back talent and potential, and I just don't see that out of Felix.

im surprised that as bad as some of you guys want DMac, you havent gone to Arkansas and tried to get him caught up in some much hyped negative publicity.....so his stock would drop

I've recommended that... And on the way to Little Rock, someone can stop by Hot Springs and tie up Larry Lacewell in a basement until after the draft.

Rampage is starting to warm me up towards the McFadden deal (as in, I might like it, not that I think it will happen).

But the only way Id be ok with it, is if we got PacMan too....

Psssh.

I already did that.

Except, he isn't in Hot Springs. He is now in rural Wisconsin, locked in a corn crib.

Maybe we can get Raiders fans to foot the bill for a LONG slow boat trip for LL and Al.:D

my reasons for barber not getting a big deal are

#1 he has never been a starter - No, but when he is in there HE IS EFFECTIVE. Too much emphasis on starter/non-starter/backup titles.

#2 he has never carried the full load - True, but when he carries.. he carries a few defenders with him.

#3 he runs so phsyical their's a good chance he will get hurt - I think this is a narrow view. Barber is usually delivering the blows - thats a whole different ball game.

#4 he runs so phsyical their's a good chance he plays banged up limiting his ability - Not if we keep him in his current role.

#5 you give McFadden a big deal and you give Romo a franchise rb who will be only 21 years old - both can be had, Jerry has a plan. I just know it.

#6 he has dreadlocks......just kidding - Dont mess with Samson ;)

#7 his agent is Drew rosenhaus(sp) who is going to try and drive that price up cause he knows someone else will be dumb enough to give him a huge contract. - True and yet Drew and Jerry will come to a number that works for both. I think even Drew would rather deal with Jerry that some other owners. Plus we are the Dallas Cowboys and Barber prob wants to stay a Cowboy.
