i was sitting at the gate at Love Field. our flight was delayed. everyone was pissed and cranky. then the phelps race came on. for about two minutes everyone was transfixed only on the swim. and it was so amazing to hear 100 people yell at unison when phelps won. incredible.

They use touch pads to record the times/finishes. The only way he was "lucky" is if the touch pads didn't work properly. If they were, and we have no reason to believe they weren't, he won and deserved to win - no luck in the equation.

Phelps got his 8th Gold Medal. He was a perfect 8 for 8.

He now has 16 total Olympic Medals and 14 of them are Gold. WOW, just WOW. That's impressive to me. I know that there are more Swimming events than there are for the other events, but it is still impressive.

Yep I forgot about that. And I think he set an Olympic record in the one win he didn't get the World Record, but I'm not sure.
