Phillips w/out Garrett = your take?

I apologize if this issue has been discussed already, but I want your take on this issue. With the success Garrett has had, it's likely he will be offerred some head coaching positions next seasons. I can see some quality positions being available namely the Dolphins, Giants, 49ers, Rams and possibly the Commanders.

Jerry is a huge fan of Garrett. Would he arrage for Phillips to remain here for another 2 seasons and then "urge" him to retire so Garrett could take over.

And if Garrett does leaves, what do you think of Cam Cameron as our OC. I know he has done a terrible job at head coach but he is a great OC. If the Dolphins finish 0-16, it's likely Cameron could get fired despite the unwritten rule that you forgive a coach in his first year.I think Camerons' problems were due to developing a poor relationship with his players and lacking talent but he reminds me of Norv in that he can be great if he doesn't have a lot of extra responsibilities to worry about.

Personally, I'm scared to leave this team with Wade Phillips w/out some great coordinators at his side. Our offense has bailed us out of games and our defense has struggled this season at key moments. I think Wade is a nice guy but he is hardly a defensive genius. That being said, Wade has done a great job as head coach. He is a calm and mature presence that is a players coach. But I really think he is the type of coach that needs a lot of talent at his coordinator positions.

Thoughs?

Why not? Garrett has shown a lot of success as OC. Aren't you scared of losing him? I am

A thread like this should be started during a boring day, like Tuesday - Saturday. Right now people are still emotionally high from the game to even think about what might happen during the off season.

That's a fair comment. I should have posted this during Tuesday

In the future I see JG as HC and Stewart as his DC... They are both young and very good.. The Boyz would be set for a long time..

give any OC this same oline, qb, wrs, and te and it won't matter.

seriously garrett is not that great, he's getting sean payton hype right now.

Garrett without Romo?

Come on it's a team game people. Who is New England OC? Is there offense domination because of him? I think Brady and Moss help.

A good QB can make a coach look like a genius.

I think that Sparano called a top 5 offense last year with Bledsoe manning the QB position 1/3 of the way, with Rivera instead of a pro bowl guard in Leonard Davis, with TO's fingers broken, and with an inexeperienced young QB.

Naw, JG is very good but Sparano is being overlooked here.. I think Sparano is just as good a JG.. I'd take either one of those cats...

Garrett is an excellent coach but it's not all him. Romo, TO, Witten, Barber they help a little bit

We essentially have the same players on offense but it has been much more consistent than last year. I agree that Payton is overrated but he is a very different coach than Garrett. Payton calls a lot of trick plays and gimic formations. Coaches like that either look like geniuses or morons. Last year, Payton's gambles paid off and he looked like a genius and this year those same gambles have failed so he is looking hyped. Garrett is not that type of coach. We run a very pro-style offense but the execution and playcalling is what is noteworthy, which is why Garrett is worth the hype in my opinion.

None of those jobs except the Giants are Quality.

The Dolphins job is solid. Just because their coaches have been incompetent lately, it doesn't mean the job is bad. That organization is still committed to winning regardless of their recent failures.

Sometimes that gets forgotten in all the Garrett love. I think he's doing a great job, but I'm not as concerned if he moves on, if Sparano is still on the staff.

We lost 4 out of the last 5 games last season with Romo as the starter. People are forgetting that too. The Bledsoe excuse doesn't really apply. Sparano's playcalling was questionable at times. Garrett's playcalling has been solid

How'd our defense play in those games? How good is this defense without Wade?

Our offense was nothing special during those games either. We had 7 pts against the Eagles, 17 versus the Saints and in the loss to Seattle, we had less than 300 yards of total offense
