Philly and the Blitz

One of the things that I found interesting about the Philly and Atlanta game was Philly's defensive aggressiveness. Philly tried to overwhelm Ryan with the blitz even though Julio Jones was successful throughout the night. I foresee Philly taking the same aggressive approach, and now that we're Dez-less I'm concerned about our receivers stepping up and running sharp routes and catching the ball. Any confidence that we're going to beat the blitz? Can T-Will beat the jam of Maxwell? I think the secret to our success will be our RB's primarily Dunbar and McFadden catching passes out of the back field to throw Philly off.

Thoughts?

We may not have the Dez Mismatch out wide that we can just lob it up to but we have all kinds of slot and over the field mismatches that can expose a blitzing defense.

Also, T. Will has shown he can beat 1 on 1 coverage.

IMO the way to beat Dallas is just play conservative and sit back and wait for us to stop ourselves with a penalty or turnover.

Romo want's to be blitzed.

We can be thrown off when you make us play patient football.

I think the Cowboys will attempt more passes that are further down the field in this game as compared to the last game since I believe the Eagles will continue to be aggressive on defense and the fact that they will commit more to stopping our run game with Dez out.

If they keep blitzing we'll go empty backfield and spread formation. Romo can handle the blitz when he knows who and how many are coming. If teams want to blitz, we'll have Dunbar and Beasley taking quick passes in the slot and only have one or two players to get by.

I think the Falcons blitzing is what made the difference for them in the 4th quarter against the Eagles, so hopefully we'll be blitzing Bradford.

I'm sure Tony and the coaches have plans to make their blitzes work against them.

I expect them to throw everything at the oline. That's why I think starting Bernie who has seen stunts and blitzes from the guard position is the safe thing
Give Collins some snaps but throw him out there all game and romo is going to spend lots of time on the ground

Bease on the left, dunbar on the right behind witten. Bring the house, please.

The Eagles better have a plan B to fall back on after Romo shows them the error of their ways.

The thing is Philly has a good front 7, and those LBs are far better than the Giants'.

That out of the backfield stuff may not work. Terrance has to win his 1on1s and I'm sure he'll see plenty of this all night.

Philly will want to cheat their safetys and stop the run.

I agree I don't think it's easy as people are making it seem, however I'm hoping I'm wrong. This game hinges on the receivers running fluid routes and catching passes. None of that rounding route stuff from T-Will or Maxwell will beat him to the ball.

Everyone here saying "Romo's gonna make them pay!!!", need to remember it was even last year that hard blitzes blunted this offense and stymied Romo.
How did the lowly, stinking, good for nothing Commanders beat them? All out blitz. Most of the teams that beat them last year employed all out blitzes.

I seem to remember...

I'm concerned about it. They have talent on that defense and although Romo can handle a blitz, it can also be his bane from time to time.
We've all seen it. It should be something nobody dismisses.

Now, having said that... Roll those disgusting birds Romo. Kill them dead.

Yes Phillys front seven is better. But the Giants touched Romo 1 time in 45 tries. That's insane.

Philly has to beat our line. I dont think they should.

If they try to blitz then our bubble screens or working Beas out of the slot or working Dunbar off a block could kill them. They have no one to cover Witten and Beas.

Im aware that all out blitz is their weakness but they have the personnel to dismantle that defensive strategy it it comes. I look forward to seeing it.

Commanders always seemed to confuse Romo more than most, but I think they really confused the interior OL. Same with Detroit in the playoffs. Last year they had trouble with Stunts and Twists on occasions and also had a habit of picking up the wrong guy leaving a free blitzer right up the gut. The more experience the interior gets, the better they will handle that. Just my opinion of course.

As long as the execution is there- they should be fine.
But there's the rub, right?

Yeah- and people are clamoring for Collins in the lineup.
You know the Eagles are going to try to throw the book at that kid.
I don't care if he can beat Cox one on one. That's not the point of an entire football game. They're going to try and confuse him with stunts and twists and LB blitzes and such.

All it takes is one seriously bad play and this season could be over.

One play.
