Everyone here saying "Romo's gonna make them pay!!!", need to remember it was even last year that hard blitzes blunted this offense and stymied Romo.
How did the lowly, stinking, good for nothing Commanders beat them? All out blitz. Most of the teams that beat them last year employed all out blitzes.

I seem to remember...

I'm concerned about it. They have talent on that defense and although Romo can handle a blitz, it can also be his bane from time to time.
We've all seen it. It should be something nobody dismisses.

Now, having said that... Roll those disgusting birds Romo. Kill them dead.

do u remember how down the road during the season Cowboys adjusted to the blitz? when teams tried it the Cowboys made them pay for it?

Yeah- and people are clamoring for Collins in the lineup.
You know the Eagles are going to try to throw the book at that kid.
I don't care if he can beat Cox one on one. That's not the point of an entire football game. They're going to try and confuse him with stunts and twists and LB blitzes and such.

All it takes is one seriously bad play and this season could be over.

One play.

I agree. The coaches are the only ones who knows if he's ready or not. I'm actually expecting Berny to start just because he's seen every a defense has to offer and the coaches might trust him more at this point against a very good DL. If they were playing against an average DL, I think Collins would get thrown in the lineup.

I sure do and I commend them for that, but this is still very early in the season and Romo hasn't seen heavy pressure in how long?
He still may not. My concerns may all be for naught, but I'm still going to be concerned- especially with Leary most likely out this week and the Eagles are going to attack that spot.
They will.
I can be concerned, can't I? I think you should be too.
All of you should be. That's what I'm saying. Too many people are dismissing this and it could creep up and bite this team in the buttocks.

Shoot- he may start this week and I'm going to trust this coaching staff and hope.
He is a truly true road grader and can hold it in the passing game also. I think this OL is going to be considered legendary in two years time.
I just worry about the tricks Chip is dreaming up to confuse a rookie.
Collins may think he's ready, but so does C-Mike after two weeks with a totally different team.

Vee shall zee.

Even if the continually to blitz, we pick it up, or Tomy gets off a pass, even if for, shorter gains, but we still move the ball, control they clock. Mix in some good runs. And since their fast paced offense also keeps their D from getting rested. Then they will tire that. Much sooner. Therefore, they don't blitz as much, or they get burned more later on. Run and pass.

Not sure if that sounds right, or can happen, but it could happen.

Yes Phillys front seven is better. But the Giants touched Romo 1 time in 45 tries. That's insane.

Philly has to beat our line. I dont think they should.

If they try to blitz then our bubble screens or working Beas out of the slot or working Dunbar off a block could kill them. They have no one to cover Witten and Beas.

The line can't block everybody, and I expect a Haslett style blitz where everybody and their mama is going to come. Witten is not so scary on the blitz because he doesn't cover a lot of ground quickly. Beasley might be the x-factor thats assuming he gets 5 or more yards om each reception, however the Eagles are tacklng well and flying to the ball.

Tough road game, we will find out a lot about our team on Sunday.

i dont think the Leary thing is that big of a deal. We have some depth now.

i agree if there is any achilles heel to this team's offense (judging from last year and the year prior) its the blitz. put Romo in a position to hurry and make a mistake etc. thats been the mantra for awhile. But recently Romo seems to have turned it around. Figured some stuff out and found a way to exploit that strategy. Im sure it has to do with his personal because he doesn't exist in a vacuum but he seems to be learning from his mistakes. I think Romo has cleaned up a lot. He knows how do deal with the blitz it seems. Beasley's rising and Dunbars as well is helping him. He no longer just hast to go for Witten.

Teams adjust. Teams adjusted to Cowboys offense by figuring out how to put them in bad situations with Blitzes. Cowboys seem to have adjusted to that somewhat at least. But we will see...

I hope for the best. My best friend was born and raised in Philly. We trash talk nonstop all year and lately it has gotten ugly.
I need this win.
I want to rip on this guy so bad... probably about as bad as he wants to rip on me.
Which will make it feel even better.

Not so sure about running, the box is going to be crowded. If T-Will makes them pay we win. This game is on T-Will's shoulder, any little thing we get from Street is an added bonus.

haha right on! im sure that cowboys win to take philly out of the playoffs last season was just a sweet sweet special moment for you in that friendship ;) as it should be.

i think we will be fine. why i have so much faith is Tony Romo and our OLine and our better than decent Defense (which has a lot of upside right now). Also the absence of Dez. Hear me out...

Yes Dez with us is better than without us but if you know Chip Kelly he HATES uncertainty. Our offense without DEZ helps that uncertainty. No one knows how we will come out without Dez against Philly. It's an entirely new wrinkle in the game planing here.

I wonder how long it will take Chip to adjust if he needs to. His team only has one gear.

One of the things that I found interesting about the Philly and Atlanta game was Philly's defensive aggressiveness. Philly tried to overwhelm Ryan with the blitz even though Julio Jones was successful throughout the night. I foresee Philly taking the same aggressive approach, and now that we're Dez-less I'm concerned about our receivers stepping up and running sharp routes and catching the ball. Any confidence that we're going to beat the blitz? Can T-Will beat the jam of Maxwell? I think the secret to our success will be our RB's primarily Dunbar and McFadden catching passes out of the back field to throw Philly off.

Thoughts?

Williams will beat the jam off that toast.

Street may surprise some people. It's his time to show why the coaches like him and have confidence in him.
From us fans stand point, I think more are hoping he comes up and plays big. Because he hasn't had the opportunities yet, now is the time.

And agree, it's on TWill to step up. Get some big plays in, then they take a guy out of the box, so then the run game gets going. We can also keep an extra tight end in for extra blocking at times on running plays. But can slip out for a pass if it is there.

Romo qb rating with the blitz is much lower than without. I hope they are prepared

Romo is like wine he gets better with age. I think we're seeing the very best of Romo the problem is he can't make our receivers catch. Romo is prepared, the question is if T-Will is prepared to catch. What's promising is that T-Will had his man beat last week he just couldn't finish the play.

Philly is going to blitz Romo and see what happens. There is nothing to loose.

Putting Dallas in shotgun with romo trying to read the coverage and make throws all day helps them vs letting Dallas try to run the ball and control the pace of the game.

They need running and play action passing and screens. Putting it all on romo will make for a long game.

short passes to the rb and screens will slow the blitz. There front seven is talented but beyond Cox they have no one all world and as it stands now their secondary is worse now than at any point last year.

People keep saying we'll burn them but the blitz does bother Romo.
Also, we have always had a problem with adjusting for the blitz since Garrett has been here. For years, I've screamed at the TV when our WRs would run these long routes and our playcalling
seemed to lack crossing routes to negate the blitzes.
You would think a dose of Beasley on a quick cross or Dez one one one would be called but we always seem to hope that Max protecting and throwing the long pass is the way to go.

Most QBs "struggle" with a blitz. Most if not all QBs have better numbers vs standard defensive fronts as opposed to blitzes.

Maxwell is kind of like Asante Samuel, not very good covering speedsters but great in zone and press if he gets his hands on you. Last week Julio Jones was too big and too fast for Maxwell but I don't think that's the case with T-Will. I think he's going to give T-Will trouble and I would limit looks to his side on comeback routes and out routes, Maxwell will eat those routes up.
