Philly Enquirer: What if Wentz had Prescott's supporting cast?

from the Philly Enquirer:

"Prescott is certainly a nice find for the Cowboys as a fourth-round pick. But having such a strong supporting cast really helps him. One could only imagine if Wentz was in the same position. It’s not hard to imagine he’d be having even more success than Dak has had."

I'm not really impressed with Wentz. He won't really throw it down the field at all. All of his paaaes are less than 10 yards from scrimmage. That's fine a majority of the time, but I'm not sure he has the ability to go long right now.

The game moves way too fast for Wentz and at this point Dak is ahead of him in terms of progress. His mechanics are troubling and they didn't throw deep because he doesn't see it downfield.

More success? So, he'd be 7-0 instead of 6-1? Cause that's the only way he could be more successful. 5 games in a row of a passer rating over 100. 176 passes without an interception. Yeah, it's totally his supporting cast that is responsible for ALL of that. I'm sure Wentz would have thrown 300 passes without an INT if he played for Dallas. And if ifs and buts were candy and nuts....

That's their (Andy Reid's) offensive system.

Carson looks really good. I would really like to see him throw the ball more down the field but that may be his lack of weapons or the system....not sure though.

The Philly rebuild plan is much further along than we all thought to start the season. Sproles is a weapon but he is not a full time starter at running back for a full season. The Wide receivers and tight ends do not get much separation. Upgrading the WR and RB is going to be very important over the next few years. Offensive line too considering their left tackle is probably leaving his peak and Lane Johnson is one test away from a long suspension.

Even though the Iggles got back a 1st rounder for Bradford, they still gave up a ton of future players to get Wentz.

There's no doubt Wentz is a good, quality QB. That's why he went #2 in the draft.

But those lost draft picks are going to haunt them for a long time. The simply don't have the ammo to build for the future. It's going to be a big Iggle slide for the next few years as attrition is going to take a big toll on their roster.

Look at Andrew Luck and the Colts. Can't do it by himself.

Too bad they gave so many draft picks away to get him

He's right though...
Wentz should be on the bench. The guy hasn't found a tight end all season. They are blaming his receivers for dropping passing and ignoring the fact that Wentz doesn't throw a catchable ball. He fires 100mph fastballs from 4 yards away to a receiver who has a DB bearing down on him. He has shown no touch on the ball, no ability to read downfield. Wentz needs to sit down for a while. You know his receivers are getting sick of him throwing fast balls at their feet.

Wentz in Dallas this year would not be a gold thing. Dak buys time to find guys and throws them catchable balls. Wentz fires the ball out of target and the receivers are taking the fall for this.

You can find an upgrade in running back in the non first though. Carson does seem like an accurate thrower so finding quick guys who can create space should also be available in the non first. Although if they want to maximize Carson's upside, they really need to upgrade WR and RB.

The "What If" game is an exercise in futility.
Really? Nearly every great accomplishment in the history of the world has been preceded by "what if" or some facsimile there of. Maybe the point of the comparison is for their writer to make the point that Carson needs a better supporting cast? And that is a correct POV in my book cuz he does.
