The True Grit remake is set for Christmas Day release, and after learning of this several months ago, I'm finally starting to warm up to it.

Supposedly, the Coen brothers are going to stick closer to Charles Portis' book. I hate to admit I never read the book, but I'm about to. I ordered it today.

Hopefully, this will be good. We Western fans are starving for one.

Hard to make a good remake of am already great movie, but Jeff Bridges may can pull it off...

Two icons in that movie, John Wayne and Katherine Hepburn... not to mention the VERY underrated Anthony Zerbe (he's one of the best character actors alive)...

It may be a very good movie, but it will be hard to top the original...

I agree that Jeff Bridges will make it good... but you have to see John Wayne and Kate Hepburn in those roles...

Hell no! I want to kick Jeff Bridges in the pills for accepting this roll. If I ever meet the Coen brothers I am going to test the limits of free speech. I hope it is a colossal flop and they go broke.

They've got Rooster in a damned dude hat for crying out loud. If I get to kick him in the pills, may I be wearing my steel toed boots.

Really don't like the Coen brothers (with very little exception) and am not really a fan of either of the Bridges (especially Beau). So barring some amazing trailers, I consider this a rental at some point WAY down the line.

I won't rent it. The day it comes out I am going to watch the real thing and enjoy the hell out of a classic movie.

IMO his finest work... and how did Roscoe Lee Browne not get a nod here for an Oscar...

Anything that will get these youngsters to see John Wayne's work (outside of McQ) is a good...

Roscoe Lee Browne will always be one of my favorite movie characters for that movie. The scene where he scares the boys is as good a scene as you will ever find.

FYI, John Wayne's 2 worst movies are "Blood Alley" with Lauren Bacall (yes, the two of them could not salvage it) and "The Conqueror" where he plays Genghis Khan. McQ is bad, but better than those.

I think they should re-release the original in theaters and scrub this piss poor idea.

A dude hat! I'm serious, let me kick Bridges in the pills. I don't care how good of an actor he is, he deserves the kind of pain and vomit a good swift kick in the pills can produce.

Eh, as of late, Coens either make a great movie or utter crap....no in between. Used to be one of my favorite filmmakers but they're losing me. Hopefully this turns it around.
