Pick your Duo in Round 1

Dont love either but I would take B.

Thieneman is higher than Allen for me.
I agree with this^ all day. But that's not really the question or the debate.

I see Downs as a far better player than all of these guys, so I have to start the "debate" with him. And to me I don't know if I could, or would want to, pass on him paired with just about any other decent player like Allen for the later, or even lots of other possible combos.

And I say that even though I'd love Styles and he could do on this team. And I think Thieneman can be a good pick for a high safety. But IMHO Downs is so good I just don't know if I could choose against having him on the team.
To put it in another way, do you want an A+ and a B or do you want an A- and a B+?

The way I see it

  • Styles is a top 5 player in this class, no holes in his game.
  • Downs is a top 10 player in this class, no holes in his game.
  • Allen is probably a 25-40 guy. Solid starter at a low-value position who's not going to be bad, but might not be that good.
  • Theineman is more of a 40-60 guy. Guy at a low-value position who might be really good (high football IQ, my #1 priority among safeties), but might be really bad (small and a straight-up poor tackler, probably my #2 priority among safeties).
I suppose I'd take the Downs/Allen combo between the two.
So take Downs or Styles if at #12.
Trade down #20 to #25 or so, pick up an extra pick or 2 picks. Take Allen, then take Theinman.

Who would you rather?

Option A:
Downs and CJ Allen

Options B:
Styles and Theimann
Theimann in the first round? At best, he's a mid-table second-round player. The best option for Dallas is Sonny Styles with the 12th pick, and with the 20th pick, the best options are Emmanuel McNeil-Warren S, Keldric Faulk DE, TJ Parker DE, or Avieon Terrell CB. If they're a little aggressive and smart in free agency, they could easily sign a good S and a CB, and with the 20th pick, they could go for a DE to fill the gaps they have and have a better chance of improving the defense.

For whatever it's worth, I don't think Thieneman will go in the 40-60 range. That's just where I have him graded. There are guys that I like more than the league, and guys that the league likes more than me.

No holes in his game for Styles?

Isn't instincts at LB a question mark?
