Just curious, I went back and looked at last year's mock and I understand the process of making picks, but how do you go about making trades? Do we negotiate now, or do we wait until the draft?

For example, I'm picking 19. Let's say the draft has begun and we're up to, say, the 12th pick. A guy I thought would be gone in the top 5 is still available. I want to move up to anywhere between, say, picks 13-16. Do I start PMing everyone with those picks and make them offers, or what? What if they aren't online when I'm PMing them? What if I PM multiple people just to be safe and they all agree to my trade?

I doubt I'll be making any trades, at least not in the 1st round. I did my homework last night and I got a nice little draft board. This is really fun. Haha. But anyway, my question still stands. I'm curious about how trades work.

Just shoot a private message to whichever user you want to negotiate a trade with

Okay, but when is an ideal time? I imagine most people are online and actively checking their inbox while the draft is going on, so it should be pretty easy. I guess I'm just of the mindset that some people might forget about the draft or not be able to check their messages. I guess that's just the way it is. Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Do you know when the draft begins?

Haha okay cool. I'd rather wait and play it out. I'm more into mid-round trades. Someone might fall out of the 1st and you might want to jump to the top of the 2nd to get him. But thanks for the info.

I read last year's mock draft thread and I can't wait until this year's begins. Just one comment about the voting/grading system: I see all 32 GMs grade each other's draft based on if they made the most out of what they had to work with. A few people commented that those with 5 or more picks average much higher grades than those with 3 or fewer picks. Well, I have another comment. I know it's not possible to have an accurate grading system since all 32 GMs can't be expected to know all the needs of all 32 teams in the league. But it seems like people just grade drafts based on how many guys selected that are high on most mock drafts. They don't take into account a team's needs. For example, I have the Miami Dolphins. I don't follow them, even though I live in Miami, but I started doing my homework on them so I have a good draft. Now, they're in desperate need of offensive tackles and guards. Aside from Pouncey, their O-line is AWFUL. The Martin/Incognito drama had a lot to do with that. But Martin was looking like a bust anyway. So they really need two starting tackles and at least one starting guard. They're pretty set at DE though. They have Cam Wake and they spent the #3 overall pick on Dion Jordan last year. So, for example, if I were to draft two very good DEs in the first two rounds, I'd probably get a very high grade from the other GMs. But that doesn't mean it would be a smart draft at all. It would be idiotic if the Dolphins did that in real life. Anyway, so that's my comment. I think other things should be taken into consideration when grading drafts. It isn't just how many popular names you draft and how many extra picks you acquire via trade.

If you want Clowney I'll trade with you as long as he's still available. I traded up last year for Alec Ogletree which turned out to be a good pick but the thing that sucks is losing picks for a round.

Nah I already have a mini draft board. I have a short list of guys and I'm confident at least one of them will be there when I pick in the 1st. But I might make trades in later rounds depending on how the draft falls out.

When is this?

BTW if you want a guy that fell out of the top 10, #12 is your trading buddy.
