Zeppelin and Stones easily in front.
Beatles for their musical influence and song writing.

But a ton of great british bands.

Zeppelin metal? :laugh::laugh::laugh:
They were a wonderful mix of blues, hard rock, acoustic material and maybe a pinch of progressive rock.
They did rather invent the base elements of the genre and make it clear it could succeed commercially.
They just were a lot more than the genre.
But they had full on 5-8 minute insane guitar riffs and pounding drums which were the basis for heavy metal.
They stole the guitar riffs from Hendrix and the distortion from Blues but the cult/satanic/dark magic element came from Jimmy Page.

Then when Sabbath was formed it was here live and in color.

LZ was def more than Heavy Metal however. They were a group of session caliber musicians all equally excellent solo and superb song writing with an insane voice in Robert Plant.
Very heavily influenced by American blues and all hard fought local musicians in many local bar bands before ever making it big.

The 60s is the greatest era of music imo.
But the 90s were outstanding as well.

Being a Brit, hopefully I'm allowed to play.....

1. The Stone Roses (never hit America and broke up fast but they were a supernova who were the forerunners to Britpop before the word was used).

2. Oasis. Biggest band on the planet outside your place in the mid 90s.

3. Queen. Freddie was just.......wow!

4. David Bowie. Not a band but had to be on my list.

5. Elton John.....see 4!
