Twitter: Pickens was wide open

After the game Schottenheimer took the blame saying that he coached Dak to throw it away. He called it "overcoaching". I don't buy it. Dak clearly misunderstood what the play was going to be. Pickens pushed off to get open, I thought but no flag was thrown. Maybe they throw it if he catches it? Who knows. But Dak throwing the ball away is a rarity. Loser do stuff like that and I am afraid this team has a losing mentality.
Nothing about the play and the so-called explanation makes no sense to me. I dont even know who to blame. LOL
Like you said, Dak doesnt throw that ball away 99 times out of 100. If anything, his error is going to be holding on to the ball too long waiting for the route to develop or throwing a tight window ball giving his WR a chance. Again, what happened makes no sense.

And im sorry whatever Schottenheimer said doesnt fly with me.

Why would you even call a play like that? If you’re going to throw down there, send someone in the middle of the endzone and at the goal line and have them sit on their butt.

They like to do these stupid fade routes in the red zone.

To me, it's pretty clear-cut what happened. Dak was given a one-read play with a speed out to Pickens. If the throw is there, fire it, if not, throw the ball away and take the FG.

Dak saw the CB in outside leverage, which would make the speed out tough, then once he saw the CB jam Pickens up, he said "screw it" and threw it away.

Pickens pushed off and got free, a split second after Dak had already made his decision. It was basically a timing round that got screwed up.

Schottty fried Dak's brains with a "throw it away" option.
I doubt he hits Pickens even if Schotty had not told him that. He would have seen the defender streaking towards Pickens and thrown it short instead of throwing it up for Pickens to go and get it.

Watching again, Pickens was not open when Dak threw the ball. Pickens pushed-off after the ball was thrown.

That said, no excuse throwing that ball. Got to hold on to it longer and look for the play. Would have been there a few seconds later.

Let your playmaker make a play.

What I think is he was being overly cautious about getting sacked. With 14 secs and no timeouts, it was a concern.

Just not in the playoffs, or games where you win and make the playoffs or go home.

Romo's chokes outnumber his heroic game winning plays.
That is absolute nonsense. Romo played incredibly well in playoff games. Dak spits the bit unless it's a wild card game against a horrible team.

Dak doesn't even get the opportunity to "choke" in the playoffs. He playoffs awful the entire game.

I'll ask you just like I asked someone else.

Can you please show me proof where Pickens was open before Dak threw the ball away like he was instructed to do?

There was 14 seconds without any time outs and in case of a sack on 3rd down, you can't clock the ball on 4th..... if Dak gets sacked and we don't tie the game, then that would definitely be all on Dak, no question.

Yeah, but could you please provide me with any proof that Pickens was wide open before the ball was thrown. I appreciate you in advance.
Pickens has single coverage. He is open. Happy feet crazy eyes 4 chunked it to the ball boy

Because he was told to do so by his head coach. Its well documented.

If your supervisor of your job told you to do something, is it your fault because you did what you were told?

Who's responsible for making team decisions, the coach or the players? Exactly....

Thats not enough separation for Dak

Now show the other angle where Broderick Jones is being pushed into Dak before Pickens is out of his break and the CB still has 2 hands on him.

Is there a world where Dak could have made a perfect throw with perfect anticipation? Sure. Was it an absolutely horrific play call by a gutless coach? 1000%.

Twitter: Pickens was wide open. I guess you guys have never played football. When the coach tells you not to choke, just throw it away; you do what the coach says.
I hope Shattie starts the practice out this week by making it rain for Rhana Prescott.

Dak did what his coach said to do. hopefully he learns from that. sometimes you have to take things into your own hands. that game was either going to be won or lost right there. our defense was already tapped out.
