I'm going to start working on my backswing next...I feel like I was pulling too far back, especially w my driver, trying to get as much distance as possible..thinking that was the way to do it...but I was overdoing it

I'm not entirely sure on the correct mechanics...

Oh baby!!!! I just left the range and I was smashing the ball...I'm stoked

Picked up a driver for the first time and by the end of the session I was hitting my drive 180-200 yards and straight as an arrow...

Man, it's nice to see all the hard work paying off...the biggest adjustment was the hands..it made a massive improvement on my shot
If you want to discuss etiquette and, essentially, not irritating other golfers...Never say you're "smashing" a driver if the ball is only going 180-200

Good that you're making progress and hitting the ball straight, but for some, that's a 4 iron.

Ya gotta start somewhere :)

Glory, work on you 7-iron game and in.....that is where you will notice the most difference early on. If you can get good at the 7 and PW, that will shave some strokes off your game.

A lot of new golfers don't work on their short game enough they're too busy on the range working on their long game. You can save the most strokes by working on chipping, putting and pitching around the green. Players miss the green a lot even some pretty good players so being able to chip one close and make the putt for an up and down can really lower your score. Late in the evening on the course find an open hole and practice bunker shots. I've seen people waste a lot of shots just trying to get the ball out of a bunker.

It's obvious by your driver distance that your mechanics are way off which is why you should head to a Golfsmith if you have one in your area and get on a launch monitor after a few more lessons. You need to add more club head speed and want to make sure the shaft in your driver isn't too stiff. Your club head speed can't be more than 80-85 MPH if you're driving the ball only 180 -200 yards. If you get on a launch monitor you can try different swings to get a feel for which one produces the best launch angle and the most club speed. The machine will estimate how far and straight you hit each shot. You're probably swaying during your backswing instead of rotating your hips and trunk.
