The handoff will get cleaned up by Week 1--if not as early as the next preseason game. My only concern is that nut trying to tackle the defender who recovered the fumble. Someone should ***** slap him the next time that kind of thought even remotely crosses his mind. Romo is far too valuable in this offense to suffer a meaningless injury.

Have you actually played a competitive sport? When you're in the middle of a 'bang/bang' play, you don't think about making a business decision.

Frame by frame looks like it hits Murray's arm. Either Murray needs to get higher or Romo needs to get lower or work on the timing regarding when the RB goes for the ball or the QB pushes the ball.

Yes. A competitive sports are filled with examples of athletes committing themselves during a bang-bang play and not committing themselves during a bang-bang play. I will not insinuate whether you have not played competitive sports before as you did me. Instead, I will ask you this question:

Regardless of the sport, have you never personally witnessed an athlete hesitate during a bang-bang play before commiting an action? High school, college, pro, football, baseball, basketball. Doesn't matter. I will not question your answer afterwards.

I think you nailed the problem. It originally looked like Romo lost control of the ball before the hand-off was made, but from the angle in the frame-by-frame shots, it does appear to hit Murray's forearm.

Really, it's preseason so I don't care about placing blame, as long as they figure out what went wrong and work to prevent it happening in a real game.

If you handle the ball, you will eventually fumble the ball.

Murray handles the ball, so he fumbles at times.

Romo handles the ball and he eventually fumbles at times.

No big whoop.

Except the boo-hooing about how unfair it is to bring this up.

That's what I see too he lost his gripe on the ball. Stuff happens

Yep. But stuff can't happen with Tony. Cam Newton started off like crap tonight ...and those bammas on NFL Network said "I don't care about Cam missing those receivers (insert lady voice) "... ***!!!! Let Tony have come out like that. U know what would transpire. A week worth of BS.

Oh no .... ESPN frames it like this ".... bad Romo (fumble) ... good Romo (TD to Dez). That's what you get with Romo." I wanted to go through that TV set.

On NFLN, Sapp kept making the point that Murray had his inside arm up. I never played RB and I'm not sure it had an impact on this play, but are RB's taught that the arm closest to the QB should be on the bottom (left arm on bottom if the QB is on his left)? If so, that is an interesting tidbit I've never heard before. I always thought it was the player's preference.

At least it's preseason and Tony didn't get hurt trying to dive on the ball and getting crushed by Upshaw.

But wait, Sportsbabe. Everyone here says they don't watch ESPN and don't listen top them. Then why the push back and race to defend him?

Murray's right arm should have been up. The running backs arm on the side where the ball being handed to him should be the arm that is up. In this case the ball is coming from Murray's right side and his right arm is up. If his right arm was down, that could and probably would impede the QB from putting the ball all the way to the RBs belly.

Always.
But his inside arm was up. It just turns out either it was not up high enough or Tony did not have the ball low enough. Either way, it nicked his arm on the way in.
Very fluke play

I agree nothing to worry about. I was curious because watching the game they mentioned the ball was low but did not look that way to me.

Was just thinking that as I looked at the pics. Looks as if it just slipped out of Tony's hands before he could tuck it in where it was to be.
Announcers said around the thigh area, and even then on the replays I was wondering what the heck they seen.
Guess it's preseason for announcers too. LOL
