Pierce JR vs Mike Green-2 Edge in the class?

It is one reason I hope they value Nolen as much as I do. He would give us some interior push to help Parsons be more effective and is stout against the run.

It's even why if he rises up above our pick, I would consider trading down slightly for Grant or Harmon. Grant doesn't bring as much pass rush ability, but is stout against the run, and Harmon might be a little bit better as a pass rusher than Nolen.

I think getting interior DL help might be the most important thing we could do in this draft, and that's even if we re-sign Odighizuwa.

I'm still for the first three rounds being DT, RB, DT in some combination. Of course, that depends on who is there with those picks, but that would be my default all things being equal.
Agree
I think one of Graham or Nolen will be there at 12
If not, trade down

I cannot understand the fascination with yet another LB playing DE
Watched a video of GBag nation today in which Broaddus said that Green weighed in at the Senior Bowl at 235……..235 LOL
Think about him going up against an NFL OL with Parsons on the other side
Have we not seen what SF and GB and Detroit and Philly did to our defense running right at Parsons? And we want 2 of that?

I might never throw the ball if im the opposing OC
He just weighed in at 250+ at the senior bowl FYI.

I just quoted what Broaddus said
Micah was 243 when drafted and has put on 3-4 lbs in 3 years and you think Green will put on 15-18 in a year

Ok, if you say so

Im just saying i do not want Green and Micah as my starting DEs

Anyway, thats just my preference

What makes you think Micah has been trying to bulk up to 260+?

He was drafted as a 6’-2” LB. He was never going to grow into a traditional DE.

Neither of us can know that of course but since he plays DE and gets run over and beat up and injured, it stands to reason he might want to

By this logic, how do you know Green will want to and be able to?

So then why are you talking about his supposed inability to add weight?

Why are we talking about his supposed ability to do so?

I didnt bring uo this mythical ability to do so but when it was brought up i noted that his closest comp has not done so

The person who brought it up should provide a basis for the contention

That’s fine, but the Senior Bowl had actually recorded measurements.

And I’m higher on Pearce and that’s who I was referencing adding weight and playing around 260.

As mentioned very easy to do and that has nothing to do with Micah.

Agree to disagree
Having Micah and Green/Pearce as starting DEs is a recipe for disaster IMO

Is that you?

I don't give two craps what Broaddus supposedly said. Green was measured at the Senior Bowl and was 6’-3” 251 lbs.

Micah also put on weight and got to 252 (and said he would go no higher than 255) in 2023 before slimming back down last year.

I share your overall contention that we need to get bigger across the d-line. I’ve said it plainly on here before. I also think a guy like Pierce Jr. can more easily add weight because he has the frame (6’5 and long-limbed).

So you would be ok starting Micah and Green at DE against SF, GB, Detroit and Philly?

If im the OC im licking my chops just running it right at those 2

Im not on board with that

System wise Pearce makes more sense at 12 I agree.

Thats fine…but again your opinion without any stats / metrics that discredit what kind of run players Pearce is / can develop into.

My “opinion” is grounded in NFL history
The predominant majority of top DEs are 260+
You are the one trying to project what might happen
Im going by what is actually happening in the NFL. Micah is enough of a liability in run defense by himself and I am not willing to have a starting lineup with BOTH starting DEs being 250 lbs and spend the 12th overall pick to do that

And again…Tank was about the same size as Green as a prospect and turned into arguably the best run defending Edge in football.

Pearce has the frame to play even bigger than he does.

And again was Tank the 12th overall pick?

That pick should be a ready made impact starter not a project who might put on 15 lbs 2 years from now

Anyway, i can see we wont agree do im moving on
