If Blue is legit

i’ll take your explanation and intent. i literally did quote your exact words though lol. wait and see is prudent. they haven’t yet is obvious. it just wasn’t what you said. all good
Apparently you didn’t approve with my narrative or intent. Which is fine . But I stand by it.

The makings of a high level offense are there. Now obviously there are a lot of unknowns - what kind of coach Shotty is, can Pickens not implode, etc.

Assuming most of the questions are answered positively you have a potentially good to great OL (although I still have issues with Steele), you have a quality WR corps now, a quality starting TE and if Blue is as good as some claim, you make potential at RB.

That then leaves the QB. Fingers crossed.
I always expect Romo level results from Dak and their playoff records and stats their first ten seasons are identical. But as you know, in Dallas we’re not reaching the conf championship game the past 30 seasons because Jerry is incapable of building a team built to mk deep playoff runs so the QB position while important is not why we can’t win playoff games, it’s the entire roster and having a hc w zero power.

I'm not nearly as concerned about Jaydon Blue as I am about other things right now. The LBs, the DL, RT, and our QB, just to name a few. There have been many other adjustments that give cause for concern on this team. Retooling isn't nearly a completed project, just yet.

The many changes on the coaching staff are other things that will take more time to fix all of the many adjustments that make this season a questionable one. Coaching is always a strong factor in making assessments as to what a curious fan might want to see that's in store for this team.

We have added new talents in the offseason that will be tested and should take time to adjust to the new schemes on both offense and defense. There's also cause for optimism, but with fingers crossed. Lots of work is yet to be done, before championship-level confidence should even be considered.

Lol. They've had all that before in the last 7 years and what happened?

A Blue revelation would take loads of pressure off our middling' QB. When we get to the RB as our bread and butter, we suddenly become explosive at WR.
Blue as a super rookie could change the dynamics big time, you unruly scrum!

The guy did not even start at Texas and a bunch of people here are comparing him to Emmitt. He is going to be a change of pace back for Sanders.

Wait till he shows out in preseason games against 2nd and 3rd team defenses.....the board will start sizing up his gold jacket.

Deuce Sproles was a cant miss

Right. Guyton still looked iffy at times. I think we are premature assuming this is a great OL.

Does it have the potential with 3 #1’s? Of course but it isn’t there yet.

I wouldn’t assume OL is strong enough yet that RB By Committee is all we need.
Guyton makes me nervous. Never saw the hype when he was at OU

Of course. He's raw. He shouldn't have been starting last season, but as usual, Jerry painted himself into a corner and was forced to start him.

I really don't remember any hype about him. Who was proclaiming him the next coming?

I don't understand the logic of some posters. College is not the definitive measure of a players NFL career. The NFL Hall of Fame is not full of College All-stars.

Yep...our QB Dak struggles when he has complimentary football from all phases...Dak Haters pop and swap your latest RB :lmao:

Romo is full of BS?? Perfect Throw :lmao:

Blue played in 38 games over the course of 3 years.

In 37 of 38 games, he carried the ball 15x or less.

Let's pump the brakes on this guy being some bell cow RB, shall we?

Some of you are condoning expectations that are exceptionally high. He may become that. But so much more likely, he is going to be in a Tony Pollard role to someone else's Zeke role in his rookie season.
Texas had really good RBs the years he's been there:

In 2022, Blue's freshman year, they had Bijon and Rochon Johnson as the #1 and #2.

In 2023, they had Brooks and Baxter as the #1 and #2, with Blue being #3. Blue was very productive as the #3 averaging 6.1 yards a carry (the same as Brooks) on 65 carries.

Last year, Blue's was the #2 and had 134 carries averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

Blue has never been give the starting role....

But he's got a good chance of earning that role with the Cowboys.

He had competition with the likes of Bijon, Brooks, and Rochon Johnson while he was there. Last year he averaged 6.1 yards a carry on around 150 carries as the 1B.

He can win the starting job in Training Camp.

Cowboys win super bowls when the have all star RBs. Starting with Duane Thomas and Calvin Hill in the early 70's. Tony D. in the late 70s's and then of course Mr. Smith in the 90's.

Yes we have had all star RB's in other years and have not taken home the prize, but the years we have won it we have always great RB's.

Also we had great defenses in those super bowl years, so yeah we're screwed.
Let's not forget Tony Dorsett

I think regardless he is a complementary player.

That’s not a slight on him either. Especially in todays football.

I just can’t help but see the same type of player as Jahmyr Gibbs.

Gibbs is an elite RB. Hes also a complimentary player that needs to be paired with a bruiser.

Even if Blue is unbelievable he will always need a bruiser to be paired with.
