It's an old tradition of mine. I've done it since I was 11 years old. Jack-o-lantern kicking. I go to the rich neighborhoods, later, after most tricker treaters have gotten home, and kick the finest works of jack-o-lantern art and craft. And I kick it hard, splattering it over the walls. Making a huge mess on the front porch--sometimes a fiery mess. Then, I don't run. I knock on the door and say, "trick or treat."
When they look down at the pumpkin's remains and my smiling face, they know I'm not messing around. So I usually get loads of left over candy.
Yup. True story.
