This is a quick pass to the right. The only DL players who can interrupt that play are the LDE or the DT by preassure up the middle.
The blind side Backer doesnt matter at all. He will never be able to reach the QB before the play is over.

You chip the DT by the center then block him by the guard. LT takes the RDE.
This is the saftest way to make the play happen.

And you have a free Center who may be able to block a LB for a big play.
Theoretically, but if the QB decides to hold onto the ball longer than planned, which is epidemic on this offense, that blind side backer has a free shot.

Yes, but that is something the QB has to be aware of on this particular play. Throw it if its there, give yourself up and go to the ground if it isnt.

The TE can chip the DE when he goes out on his route, and he should. But that will help only so much.
If the QB wants to prolong the play he needs to be aware of the weakness of his protection and that is the backside DE.

Well point is, protection is necessary up the middle and to the side of the play. If this breaks down the play is a failure.

Take a look at the film study posted by Rockport in his thread on Tyler's dominance. You can see all the linemen shift to the right at the snap. Tyler shifts to the left. He was obviously out of sync with what the rest of the O-line was doing. Seems reasonable to pin the unblocked man on him in the circumstances.
Lol, no right way to do the wrong thing...
